The easy answer is the one NOBODY mentioned....just get a job in the PR dept. at CP....I'm *pretty sure* they're awaiting resumes at this very moment...;)

bill, who is as confused by chris's first equation as anybody....and who is really quite pleased to have done well enough on the written exam that I was able to bypass the *oral* completely...;)

Go to the park, being a busseinss card, and ask for a media pass. Heck if reporter for TV News, Radio News, Newspaper. They will give you.(Carowinds' Media Pass Policy) If you have a website that you report for theres no reason for then not to let you in. Starcoasters.com recorded Ricochet's Media Day.

Or you can see if a radio station is giving away a trip to CP's Media Day. Well, that's what happen to my Brother and his friend, they won a limo trip to M-Force's media day back in 2000 from WGAR. And I have the shrit to prove it. :)

The hell that media day can't be ERT. We managed somewhere between 10-12 rides on Batwing over the course of several hours. Try that on a busy day. I will agree though about the camera placements and waits between rides. My favorite ride had to be the one where a Vekoma technician was using power tools near our row. That was reassuring:)

Not exactly true. I didn't just show up and tell them I was with a website. Somewhere down the line they added me to their list appearantly, and I got the invitation to media day in the mail.

I think this is a good time also to explain that media days often are *not* ERT sessions. Many times there are significant (i.e. 30-minute) waits between rides due to switching camera equipment and TV personalities on the ride. Many times "enthusiasts" who are invited are limited on the seats they can pick (i.e., only on-camera folks are allowed in the front and/or back seats).

Good answer Dennis!

Anyone who goes to a media day and badmouths any aspect of the park or new ride (or wears a shirt for an opposing park) is probably going to be asked to leave.

Exactly!

Sadly, I have seen that happen way too many times (sigh)

Are the media passes usually good for bringing a guest?

Sean, well said. I guess if you can't *get it* that the PARK wants, and reasonably expects, only GOOD press on media day, then really you should *prolly* stay at home....;)

There are no passes, you don't show up with fake credentials. If they want you there, they'll let you know.

Let's review... media events are for the media. It's to introduce the new ride to the world via the media. You can ride the thing when the park is open to the public.

Very true, however non-media people DO get invited to Media Days, sometimes quite often.

Of course they do, but it's people the park know and trust. They're people who interview well for TV. The point stands, if a park wants you there, they'll let you know.

You could always wait to ride it until the day it opens and battle with thousands of other people. Why not, it will probably be easier to be first to ride it on the day it opens to the public than to get invited to this years media day.
