I guess the real test will come when the second park opens in the complex. I'd be willing to guess it will be a Disney Sea park, and if it's ANYTHING like Tokyo Disney Sea, then it will completly make up for a lack-luster Magic Kingdom.
Then again it could all be because the park is brand new. I mean, look at how much they've added to Animal Kingdom since it opened. I guess my point is that while it looks like a nice place to go, I'm by no means calling my travel agent to book my trip. I'll wait another 5-10 years and then look back into making a trip.
If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.
For what it's worth, it's an excellent excuse to fly Cathay Pacific, which even in economy class refines luxury air travel. It's not cheap, but damn do you get what you pay for. Fortunately, it was the only game in town for what I wanted to do (outwards: DUB->FUK, return NRT->DUB).
These were transmogrfied into the horrible DUB - LHR - HKG - TPE - FUK, all in one go and thus not to be recommended, and the somewhat more pleasant NRT - HKG, stopover, HKG - LHR - DUB.
I develop Superior Solitaire when not riding coasters.
I also heard from the same source that Disney is looking at three locations for the next Disney park: Australlia, India, and Shanghi (sp?) China.
If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.
While I don't doubt that the park will do very, very well, and eventually expand as the others, I'm going to stay away for now. I mean, I had no plans on going anywho, but I did flirt with the idea of possibly spending 3 days in Hong Kong on a 2 week Japan trip I'm planning just to hit this.
I'd still go if I had the chance, but it really isn't something for me to make a special trip for.
As for the second Gate they'll likely add, I'd doubt it would be a Disney Sea, as all of the Disney Parks now have at least one gate, and the only 'clone' is a Studio Idea in Paris and Florida. I would hope that they would do something completely different in China.
From what I've read, the Chinese government actually discouraged Disney from building a Frontierland area at HKDL, because of the violent, rebellious nature of the old west.
I do hope they add a western area to the park sometime though, I consider Frontierland a big part of the Disneyland experience. ;)
