Homepark pride?

I still remember when Knoebels was woodless and they still had the cages, Ferris wheel where the swings are, Rocket Slide where the Galleon is, petting zoo and pony rides. How many people remember those?

[Soggy raises his hand]
Yes, Knoebles is a real gem to be proud of. I had not been to the park for 16 years. I also remember going both before and after The Phoenix came to PA. Coasterpunk is a great host, too. I never would have done the Scooters unless he had suggested them. I was laughing like a drunken idiot from the force of those collisions.

I too have homepark pride(Knotts & SFMM), but I try not to let it dilute my overall opinions on other coasters/parks.

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

I can't really say I have homepark pride as in "my park is better than yours" because, I've never been to a park outside of Florida. BGT is the closest and is a great park, but I would move to Orlando in a heartbeat to live near IOA and WDW.

That said, I would love to go to a Six Flags park- some people say they suck and aren't themed well enough but that doesn't matter much to me. Also, Cedar Point and Knotts are oh- so- far away and those are the two Cedar Fair parks that I really want to go to.

Does this thing go faaaaaast!

My homepark is BGT... Unfortunately, I have “hometown shame” for it. Gwazi is a total waste of wood, and the steelies just don’t do anything for me...

My opinion is WAYYYYY different than yours on BGT. I would rate BGT in my top 5 best parks. Yet it's very likely that you have been there many more times than me (I have been there about 10 or 15 times). This is very interesting to me that someone who lives very close to a cirtian park can not like a park as much as someone who doesn't. Kind of flips the topic around.

I lived in Orlando for a year and would get very excited about going to BGT. Gwazi easily rates as one of my favorite woodys.

It is very cool that some of you DON'T like your homeparks as much as others.

Some of us are lucky enough to have a half-way decent (or better :) ) park within an hour or so drive from home. My most recent trip to the park I call home (SFGAdv) took me 2hr 20min to get there (no thanx G.S. parkway). This ride should take maybe an hour and a half. Hershey is about 3hrs or so. CP is 8.5hrs (according to Davie the Luv Monkey) from here. I'll take Great Adventure hope there's no traffic in my way, and enjoy the whole time I'm there.

I can't help but feel some pride for PCW as my homepark. Yes it may not have the biggest and tallest coasters, but we have flatrides. And at least i'm happy with the fact that Paramount is actually spending money on the park and the park is adding new innovative attractions than nothing at all. I think I have gotten used to the coaster issue. If I want big fast coasters, I'll go to CP.

Magic Springs And Crystal Falls all the way baby. Because its not a large corporate thrill park thats lost in the hype of who can out do who. It is a traditional park.

3 out of the 4 voices in my head say, go for it!

Home park: Six Flags America. Pride in it? Absolutely none. I don't fault the ride ops at all. The park is a dump. I could understand how all of the young workers would feel demoralized. It's Six Flags Ghetto. Absolutely ghetto - ghetto in the way it's kept. I have a trip report coming soon from my husband and my trip there on Tuesday August 15th. Please, just take three years and instead of slapping down more rides, take care and beautify what you have. Paint the coasters, patch the rusted parts, put in some grown trees, some overhanging arbors, some lights for the evenings, upgrade the parking lot, put in more bathrooms, upgrade the restaurants, upgrade the bathrooms.
