Homepark pride?

If you want a buddy for Hershey get in contact with me. I have a season pass and a discount ticket from my pass coupon book. I only went once this year because my girlfriend didn't get a pass this year and I too don't want to wander myself. Plus I'm off work now with a broken hand so I'm basicly sitting at the house and going to the bar too much. ;) I'll be off work till the end of the month or so so anytime is good for me.

If you want to do a side trip to Knoebels thats even better. I love giving the Knoebels tour.

Pitt, I wanna go to Hershey too...maybe we can work something out. Fire me an e-mail.

My home park is Great America (the Six Flags one). I have been going to the park every year it has been in operation except for a few years that I was serving our country overseas. I remember when the cool thing for me was marathoning the Industrial Revolution and the Hay Bayler. Then it was marathoning the Whizzer and the Eagle. Then I got the gumption to do loopers and I was marathoning Tidal Wave and Demon. I loved this park when it was owned by Marriots. I have watched all the changes Six Flags has made and yearn for the simpler days when the park was under other ownership. I still love the park today but not as much as I once did. There are other parks out there that I love just as much as Great America but Great America will always have a nolstagic part of my heart that can never go away.

Mark: Maybe I will see you when you move to the Tampa Bay area. I am considering the same move myself within the next two or three years. It is such a lovely area and Busch Gardens would make such an awesome new home park!

Geauga Lake Park/Six Flags Ohio/Seaworld Ohio/Six Flags Worlds of Adventure is my homepark, about 10 min away. I just drive the 2 hours to Conneaut Lake.

Cedar Point is mine, I can't find a single thing wrong with em.

These are my homeparks:

Dollywood- Its nice, clean, and family friendly, but needs more rides and coasters.

Carowinds- Is currrently not in its brightest hour. Most of the coasters are good, and it is a beautful park, But the management really neglects it, and employees are nothing to be proud of.

Six Flags Over Georgia- Has a very bright future, and is my favorite Home park. Friendly Employees, good scenery and nice coasters is what this park is made of.

I will do the honors and represent my hometown park, Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, of course. Iv been going to the park all my life and hold it dear to my heart. I live approx 20 minutes away, and I have one friend whos apartment complex is right next door(down hamilton blvd a bit), so whenever we're sitting around at her place bored im always like "um wanna go to dorney?" lol And yeah i always feel the need to defend dorney i just cant help it. Its like when ur in gradeschool and someone is picking on your little brother, of course you gotta be all defensive and kick the other kids butts. Because in a sense, they are picking on a part of YOU. You always have to defend what is yours. Every amusement park and its coasters are unique and special in their own ways. However, its my job to contribute positive comments and show my support for Dorney so everyone can learn what a great park it is. Likewise, everyone else should(and does) represent their hometown park as I do with mine.

My homepark is AW and it is awesome. If people would go on a) A Tuesday in June or B) Labor Day, you would see what I mean. I try to stick up for it. It gets tiring from people saying, "Their ride selection isn't good". It isn't our decision. It's corporate. And yes we do make the money to get new rides. And I am sure the money we made in 2000 and 2001 was a LOT more than what a stupid TurboBungy costs. BTW, I wish Holiday World were my homepark. I love it.

My home park is Worlds of Fun. Have went to it every year since 1992 (although this year will be the first year that I won't get to go) and have seen alot of improvement and promise. Home of the first Space Shot (the Detonator), a good wooden coaster (Timber Wolf), and a nice hyper (Mamba), Worlds of Fun may not be big or have record-breaking rides, but it still is a great fun place to visit. I defend it too (although I respect everybody's opinion - good or bad) and can't wait to go next year to ride Thunderhawk and everything else. Perhaps a new coaster too. . .

381 rollercoasters and counting. . . counting down for me to come back home to America. :)

These are some Great anwsers. I get the feeling that Most of you represent your homeparks because you are emotionally attached to them and not because they have your favorite rides and attractions. The season passes seem to keep some of you going over and over. I am guessing that most of these parks aren't as bad as some of us make them out to be. The people who go to any one park over and over should probibly know best if their park "sucks" or not.

We probably look at the positives of our homeparks more instead of the negitives. I think we do this because we want to be proud of them and support them. It's kind of like our local sports teams.

Worlds of Fun has a Thunderhawk too! really?! thats weird. dorneys old woodie is thunderhawk. its been named that 4 a while now, when herc was built actually. they were gonna name "hercules" "thunderhawk". they decided on giving their old coaster which name was just "the coaster" the name thunderhawk but that was back in 89. has that ride always been named thunderhawk? maybe cedar fair named it that cause they own dorney too and they just took the name from dorney.

SFGAm is my homepark, although it's an hour away. Hillcrest park is actually closer to me, but all it's got is a Schmeck kiddie coaster (actually quite a little ride) as far as coasters go, and it's only available for private events. Anyway, I love SFGAm, I have a lot of pride in my homepark, but what's not to have pride in? Southwest Territory is easily one of the best themed Six Flags areas in any of their parks, it's got my #1 steel coaster for 3 years now in Raging Bull, it's got a great wood twister in Viper, it's got the sometimes great American Eagle, it's got some great smaller steel coasters, it's got an often hated, but loved by me stand-up in Iron Wolf that I feel delivers a feeling of intensity only topped by Georgia Scorcher (but it's still my #4 stand-up, GS is #1), they have the first ever inverted, and outside of coasters, they have a great park layout with the double loop, which is very easy to use, the staff is great, the scenery in places is just amazing (other places it's horrid though), and I've got friends from Gurnee (went to Warren Township HS in case anyone goes there, IM me if you wanna know who they were), so I can visit them on a trip to the park, I just really feel that it's a great place to go to for a great park experience. They do lack shade though, I agree with anyone who says that.

Home Park: Cedar Point.

I will never forget my first roller coaster at age 8, Magum XL-200. After one spin on this masterpiece I was hooked. I'm actually almost brought to tears just thinking of some of my happiest moments happening in this park. There is just something about pulling in to the causeway and seeing the most beautiful skyline of rides. There are days when all it takes to make me happy is to just look at my MANY on-ride pics with friends, counting down the days till I get to go again.

I've been to SFWOA, PKI, etc. and nothing seems to give me the feeling that CP does. Now don't get me wrong, I had loads of fun at these parks. But, these parks don't seem to have the tradition that CP has. CP is clean, has the friendliest ride ops, best location, and overall, deserves the Golden Ticket every year.

Am I biased? Heck yeah, Be true to your park!

My home parks are Magic Mountain, Disneyland, and Knott's

Magic Mountain- They have some of the best steel coaster, but I am not too thrilled about the rest of it.

DCA- I can't really say I am emotionally attached to this park, but it is still great. It is an underapperciated park. A lot of locals hate, in fact, when I tell people I have been there, people seem to asume that I think the park sucks.

Disneyland- I grew up with this park, so hence, I have reallly high standrads. I would never outgrow this park.

Knott's Berry Farm- I have always loved this park. It is like this park knows what I like. When I was little they just opened Camp Snoopy. There was also a time I was really interested in indians. It was about the time they opened Indian Trails. Now, that I am a coaster enthusiat, they have been adding thrill rides. Yes, the park has been losing a bit of its charm. Thanks to Good Ole' Cedar Fair. I would be more upset if it closed down.

My home park is Knott's, I go there at least 10 times a year as a guest and I love working there every October for Haunt. I don't even have to be a monster to have fun during Haunt (in fact, I've never been one, I'll be working line control again this year). The park just has a little of everything I like. There's the thrill rides, the friendly atmosphere of a small park (ok, so it's not as friendly as it used to be, but it's still not as bad as SFMM), little pieces of history (Ghost Town, the church, etc).

I like the friendly atmosphere of Disneyland, but I rarely go there because that park isn't really thrilling enough for me. I like the thrill rides at SFMM, but I rarely go there because that park isn't friendly enough for me. Knott's gives me a little of both, most of the employees are friendly and helpful (with a few exceptions) and the rides look good, provide a great thrill, and are kept in excellent condition (again, with a few exceptions, like the layer of rust on Boomerang). I almost never refer to Disneyland or SFMM as my "home park" though, because I never feel at home in either of those parks, in fact sometimes I don't even feel like a guest at SFMM. I always feel at home at Knott's.

My homepark is BGT (I actually work 1 minute from it). Unfortunately, I have “hometown shame” for it. Gwazi is a total waste of wood, and the steelies just don’t do anything for me. Consequently, I’ve adopted IOA as my homepark.

SFWoA-I live about 4-5 minutes away, 3.36 miles to be exact. I love it and have only had 1 bad experience there.

My home park away from home would be CLP. My family has a house about 20 minutes away from CLP. I dont own a season pass to CLP (No way im paying $65 for a CLP pass!). I try to go as often as possible. Blue Streak Count For 2002- 26

Thunderhawk was a new top spin for this year. And as for home parks, I stick up for WoF. It, along with VF are the forgotten parks in the CF chain, and CF should start improving them, because, if VF is anything like WoF, its a great park.

It's fine to be PROUD of your homepark(s).....I have three....and a few in OH/IN that I consider "home-away-from-homeparks"....

just remember that your homepark is less than perfect, and so is everyone else's, and that pointing out a few "flaws" is just a way to *suggest* that improvements can be made to even the best of places....Shoot, even HW could make a change for the better IMO, by *cranking up* the speed on the Flyers for SRM.....doesn't mean I don't love 'em, or that I won't go back, just that there is ALWAYS room for improvement....

edit: there is no need to get "defensive" when someone points out some areas of your homepark that could use improvement.....in fact, the "problem areas" are good places to start when looking at how a park could get better....they're *suggestions*, and constructive criticisms are always welcome in my book.....it turns to "bashing" when someone says "Park X sucks" without anything specific to say.....that's NEVER welcome.....

Homepark: SFGAm and, yes, I would have to say I'm proud to call it home. It's got a great selection of coasters which is all I ride anyway. My beautiful wife and I visit as often as we can so we can ride Bull, Viper, B:TR, AE backwards, and even throw in a ride or two on V2, Demon, and DV. I've never really liked Shockwave so if they take it down and put up a flyer or 4D - Wow!

Now, with that said, I prefer the atmosphere at PKI. The selection of coasters is not as good as SFGAm but I love the midway with the fountains and Eiffel Tower and the landscaping is beautiful (except for Action Zone). I would have no problem calling this my home park either.
