Holiday World Steel?

Nice idea draco that would be sweet but rather a floorless suspended would be better. Get arrow to build and use the new vekoma floorless suspended cars. If they work out.
I agree with Draco.... HW doesn't *need* anything, it's absolutely perfect as it is. Anything they add from now on is a bonus.

I think a PERFECT addition to Holiday World is an infamous SLC by VEKOMA!

What a great addition that would be and it wouldnt cost as much as some other B&M or whatever.

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone

I have not been there, but I think they will eventually builf a steel. I mean, a park with 3 woodies? I definitly don't think their next coaster will be a woodie, so all that is lef it steel. A large steel would ruin the atmosphere, but a average size one with say a 100 ft drop, I think it would look alright.
Since they already have two non-looping coasters, I think an inverted would suit the park well. he park isn't too big, so an Intamin seems more appropriate than a B&M. Those 2-wide trains could fly through the forest and over the lake without ruining the atmosphere.

Your right shutupandride, that's actually a better idea! Forgot about the swinging coasters, that truely would be even more awesome, specially if they could instead get Arrow to do the floorless swinging chairs(please keep Vekoma out of HW!)like you said. And I'm sure a medium sized Arrow Suspended would be more in HW's budget than a B&M anyway.

And MikeMir87, I seriously hope you were joking!

With Raven and Legend opening five years apart it would probably be wishful thinking to see a new coaster open up next year. Maybe in 2004. Probably by 2005.

I would much rather see Holiday World nickel and dime its growth until then. A Christmas-themed reindeer carousel for the Christmas section. A patriotic-peppered dark ride with an enclosed faux fireworks finale. Just fleshing out some of the empty spaces before landing the knockout blow with an efficient coaster at the other end of the park as an anchor to keep folks from all bolting to the left when they enter the park.

I think that they could get more people going if they advertised in the Indianapolis area alot more

That's the plan for this year.

Please remember, without taking offense, that we are a *family* park...our advertising is aimed toward families, not teens. So it may be you're just not seeing our advertising because we don't hang out where teens hang out (assuming you're a teen).

Thanks, Paula

Take a look at "Big Cheif's" - what coasters do they have - 3 woodies. I think HW should stick to this route and become the wooden roller coaster capital of the world. I know other parks have multiplt woodies, but nothing of this awesomeness, just keep building super woodies and make take there spot in the bus.. They will also have there nitch in respect to the benefits of going to the park. What other parks out there could carry this torch. Just a thought.

BMCOASTER

BM's right on the woodie front. Kennywood isn't suffering from having three wood coasters, then again, they also have Exterminator and Phantom's Revenge to mix things up. But you have to ask yourself what you -- and Holiday World -- would have to sacrifice for a B&M or Intamin monster. Do you really want them to water down the free sunscreen, tweak the Pepsi syrup, charge for parking and tack another seven bucks a head to at the gate?

I think the reality is that if HW would pony up for a steel coaster it wouldn't be of the lavish expensive variety. You'd have a Knoebel's on your hands, where the two wood coasters still dominate its steel sibling. I would much rather see something more off-the-beaten path, like a sleigh-themed bobseld coaster in the Christmas area of the park or a red, white and blue spinning mouse coaster in the 4th of July section.

Look at Zoombabwe. It's clear that HW is going for something that is not only cost-effective but one in which the fun-to-cost ratio is much higher than the chain parks. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Ok guys remeber the original question was would a steel coaster fit into Holiday World and what kind and where. It was not will they get one and do they have enough money. I love woodies and would gladly like to see another one go to Holiday World. But the question was would a steel coaster fit into their atmoshphere. I'm not expecting Holiday World to get a steel I'm just wondering would one fit into Holiday World and what kind would it be and where. I think a floorless suspended coaster would be great maybe theme it to Santa's Christmas eve and have close encounters with houses like on BBW.

Shutupandride, I understood your original question as imagining a steel coaster at HW. Sooner or later, the daydream becomes a business reality with numbers to crunch and other assorted implications.

But, if money were no object, a floorless would be cool. Even a flying coaster with a big red beacon at the front to give the illusion of Rudolph in flight at night. As a family park it'd be great to see if they could manage a height requirement in the 42 inch range (ala BGT's Scorpion) than the 54 inch B&M standard. But would a steel coaster fit? I don't think there's a park out there where a steel or wood coaster would seem out of place.

I've heard gripes of coasters sticking out at the Florida theme parks. Why is this huge bright green track visible from IOA's Port of Entry? The nerve of seeing Montu's track from BGT's parking lot!!! But that's small quibble for purists. In the end, if it enhances the parkgoing experience, wood or steel, bring it on!

IMO a steel coaster would fit into the atmosphere of HW, but it depends on what kind of steel coaster. The only steel coasters I think would fit in with HW is the aforementioned mine train ride and a mouse of some sort. While the portable coasters could easily fit in, I'd rather stick with a high quality mouse. What I think HW needs to do is flesh out their selection of flat rides. They have a great park and seem to be on track to keep this park successful. A Ferris Wheel, Meri-Go-Round and some more modern, more intense flat rides would definately give the park a boost for a much smaller investment.
Would steel fit at HW??? I don't know. If, however, given the edict that steel WAS going in and I had to pick it, I know my choice hands down.

Setpoint Swing Thing - Whether you make it wet or dry, I think the "feel" of this coaster goes great with HW's family atmosphere.

Dont' forget about Miler Coaster Co.here in Portland,Oregon.I could see one of their rides installed in HW.Although Miler builds only steel coasters, they seem to have a traditional look to them.Miler is teasing the hell out of this enthusiast.I get get to watch them being built, then they ship them off to some place I will most likely never visit. For smaller coasters,Milers' look like they pack quite a punch.
