Holiday World Hints?

Been there done that...this year in fact....I am considering doing it again before the year is over. I love the place and why couldnt there be some nightlife at Holiday World for people to do when the park closes but before going to sleep? It might attract more tourists than you think it might. It might actually pay for the next coaster all of us enthusiasts want to see built. Like I said they were just ideas. I didnt say that they would happen. But I was thinking and writing my thoughts at the same time.....I for one would love to see something like the Whizzer there and think that would be perfect. I am thinking if a coaster goes in they should make it a family coaster and one without loops at first. Sure they could get one that does but that isnt what Holiday World is about at this time anyway. I dont proclaim to know what is going in but whatever it is will fit right in with what they are trying to accomplish.

I recently read several postings on the other HW blog: What Our Guests Are Saying. A very common comment is along the lines of, "I wish you would build a steel looping coaster."

I think it's only a matter of time before we see some inverting steel in Santa Claus, IN. :)

Eurofighter! Certainly Dollywood has proven it's a family-friendly enough ride, eh? ;)

^I really hope not. Something along the lines of Revolution with a single inversion (or two) and lap bar restraints would be perfect IMO.

I adore Mystery Mine. And the second the ride was over I thought the general idea would be excellent for HW. I doubt they'd be able to do something on that kind of scale theming-wise but I certainly think it would be something to consider otherwise.

Really, though, if steel is the next thing they do, a perfect fit for HW is right here:

It could be made by whomever will design the ride HW wants. Just because Schwarzkopf isn't around anymore, doesn't mean some other company won't make a Schwarzkopf-style coaster if paid to do so. ;)

OK. Thought you had a specific manufacturer in mind.
Steel is on the way to HW for sure but with the Voyage still drawing crowds as the new big ride, I don't think we'll see another coaster addition just yet.
Steel inverting? Kinda typical, standard, not too exciting.

Eurofighter? Kinda rough. Kinda uncomfortable. Headbanging and forward lunges... ug.

Come on, we need Anton.

Nothing beats an old school Jumbo jet, a ride on the Mindbender, or an old lap bar only shuttle loop.

Would be nice to see some 'new' variations on these, without the shoulder bars of course.

Batman and Raptor are great. But how many times can you do em? I think they get boring.

I could ride Mindbender, Whizzer, etc., heck even Tig'ger at IB and they never get old. AND they aren't painful.

What about a Zamperla Disk O Coaster? Yeah this goes against what I just said about another coaster, but well it's just another idea that fits the "to the tune of" pun as well as a good fit for a steel solution. I'm sure they could creatively make this ride look like a plate of food lol.
Have any of you guys seen the area that they're clearing over there?

As I said before, it's a little large to add a flat ride to, unless they plan on adding multiple flats.

eat. sleep. ride! - Coaster apparel and accessories.

I've seen the area, it's pretty far from park. If my mind wasn't playing tricks on me i thought I saw some concrete poored, even in the picture on holiblog. You look close enough where the bobcat is you do see some pipes sticking out. I don't really recall seeing any track sitting around. All I know is this. Look over the last 15 years how HW brings new attractions. 95' raven 00' legend 06' Voyage. Between that time they added a few flat rides and basically tripled the water park. It's all about capacity. I just don't expect a coaster till 2010-11 year. Considering how far this section is from the park they building some flat rides or I see maybe a new water ride of somesort like the battlewars like IB has.

Hey Moosh, perhaps someone like Zierer or Premier? I think Intamin would probably want OTSR's and would over complicate the control system anyway. ;)

Anyhow, here is my conceptual steel looper for Holiday World. I designed it several months ago in NoLimits. I give you The HoliLooper version 1.0:

In subsequent updates, I have added a midcourse helix and replaced the corcscrew finale with a tunneled turnaround similar to Zambezin Zinger's finale. I continue to tweak the layout from time to time, but these pics give the jist of what I'm going for--a terrain looper with the emphasis on the layout, not the inversions. Obviously Revolution was a major inspiration. :)

That looks great Matt!

Very Revolution looking.

I would add another vertical loops at the end (a al Mindbender) and half buried (Talon, Kraken).

Thanks. It's a work in progress. It's fun to dream. The hard part is not getting too carried away with the layout and trying to keep it realistic. :)

Any kind of terrain coaster would be awesome.

Let's face it, though. With Voyage less than two years old, that giant crate in the parking lot is more likely to contain the makings of a turkey petting zoo than 2-4 thousand feet of steel coaster track.

As far as themes go, "Cupid" seems like a good one for a launched coaster, or "Tunnel of Love" for a flume ride. I'd like to see a Vekoma motorbike sleigh ride, with eight or nine reindeer vehicles "pulling" a sled or two. Install a pair of speakers on each vehicle so riders can sing classics like "Jingle Bells," "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer," and "Dead Puppies Aren't Much Fun."

Is the construction area even connected to the park? It looks pretty far out there.
