Holiday World announces 2005 plans

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Holiday World and Splashin' Safari has announced plans for the 2005 season. At the top of the list is a new wave pool called Bahari, about twice the size of the existing pool. Revolution, similar to the Roundhouse it replaces, will be new, as will a second train for The Raven.

I've never been to the park (I hope to get back to America next year and hit Holiday World, ), but by all accounts it is a very rare gem.

One thing I've been curious about is this park is how it handles the phenominal growth it has experienced? Will the added capacity given by these additions outway the increase in attendance that came this year and what is sure to come next year?

Johnathan--

Regarding improved capacity on The Raven...I'm a bit confused. Are you questioning our math skills or our ability to tell the truth?

Just checking...

Those crazy engineers you hired couldn't possibly be good at math, could they?

HW's ride ops don't sit around and don't move at a snail's pace...they get trains in and out of the station as quickly as possible. This isn't Six Flags we're talking about here, Jonathan ;)
I was confused by the 70% capacity increase figure too at first. The way I was looking at it, I figured that by adding a second train, the maximum increase in capacity would be double, or 50%. That's obviously not correct, however. As Rideman said, 100% would be double, not 50% (as I had incorrectly thought). Thus, 70% sounds quite reasonable to me.

Maybe that helps clear the figure up for those who are still confused. It's a good thing I'm not an engineer.

You're adjusting backward. The natural assumption of adding a train would be double capacity, a 100% increase. The ride is almost long enough that a good crew could load and dispatch another train while the other is out. I think 70% is low, and they might be able to do even better.
Right, I get it now (after I thought about it a bit harder). I just explained how I was screwed up in case anyone else was thinking the same way.

I also agree that with a HW crew, 70% shouldn't be difficult to tackle or exceed.

I'm late chiming in, but hearing Holiday World is expanding again (a Zero Gravity, sweet!), Dollywood is having a huge new expansion, a new water park at SFgam plus many great coasters already planned at other parks for 2005; thing are already looking great next year, and there are many parks that have yet to reveal any plans as of yet. Gotta start planning some trips for next year!
sorry if my previous post offended anyone. i'm not trying to say that the park can't do their math or that they can't tell the truth. i've spent a lot of time around the site and try to be very careful to listen first and speak second. that's how you earn respect.

i am simply confused.

not by the math or the percentages but by the fact that the park can make a prediction that capacity will increase by 70% with so many unknown variables. i could understand the press release stating that capacity will increase but not when a statistic is attached to that.

if anyone can explain what i'm missing here i would love for them to. better yet, join my wife and i on sunday afternoon and we can discuss it in line for the raven as we enjoy one last ride this season.

I guess I'm a little confused as to why it matters. More trains, equals less time in line. Semantics and percentages are best left to the actuaries, IMO.

Unknown variables? What's unknown?
I guess the variables, but that seems a little redundent.
Agreed you are spending too much time thinking about something that doesn't matter. Just know that people who are less ignorant about the situation figured the numbers, and they did so as accurately as they could.

ZING!

So this Revolution ride. The picture on Holidayworld.com looks like a roundhouse but there are differect rides named Revolution. Is it really a roundhouse just newer or is it more like the revolution at Dorney? Or the revolution by Chance? Just wondering.
Did you even read what was on the site?

Plus the new Revolution is an updated version of The Roundhouse—it has higher capacity, a faster and higher spin, plus it lights up at night!
