Hoffman, I bet you read the bible like that too...pulling out only what you want to hear.

That was really not cute, nor clever. What's with bringing religion into everything these days?

And... I also disagree with your posted opinion. Amusement parks can't add thrill ride after thrill ride year after year. Little kids like amusement parks too. A lot of families DO like the kids area of a park; I suspect even at Holiday World.

Do you think that the Camp Snoopy and Planet Snoopy areas didn't, or aren't going to, help the Cedar Fair parks raise attendance? What about the kid's area at Kings Island, which I suspect is a huge draw for the park?

You sound kind of selfish, and lack insight of the big picture.

What was the point of that? Not cool.

That is the cutest kid I have ever seen. :) I really believe him too. He has a great personality, and should be the park's new mascot.

Edited to add - That WAS both cute and clever though.

I just posted an opinion, and Hoffman jumped on it posting a snide comment without backing it up. When did sarcasm become a kind and respectful manner of discourse? You can disagree with my opinion (many people do) but at least do it in a respectful manner. What he did was rude.

That kid was pretty cute.

LostKause, I respect your comments, thanks for explaining your point of view.

I simply said that I hope this is not the only thing they add. I am perfectly fine with whatever they add. I personally don't believe those kid areas are as beneficial to the park as one might think. They are a definite necessity, but I don't think they are that big of a draw.

Since LK used Planet Snoopy as an example, so will I. Planet Snoopy costs about 8 mil (at least that is the expected amount at Dorney). Now lets go to KI for comparison. At KI, in 78' Racer cost 1.2Mil, in todays dollars that is just over 6 mil; Vortex cost 4mil in 87' just under 8mil in todays dollars. Do you think that Planet Snoopy is as big a draw as those coasters were back then?

I don't think a kiddie land is that big of a draw, but I do think it will do great for sustaining attendance. Attendance won't drop, it will increase, but you are not about to see a couple hundred thousand increase like you would with a major thrill ride.

Mind you, even a tiny difference, such as that between 0 and 0.000126, can make a world of difference.

Actually, sarcasm has always been a part of internet discourse. In part, that is why the use of emoticons was popularized. It is a way of saying "Yes, I know I'm being sarcastic, please don't take offense." In my opinion, it was your ad hominem response that crossed the line of civility, not Hoffman's (properly annotated) sarcasm.

Hoffman used a smiley in his offending reply. You have thinner skin than even I do, Woohoo, if you took his post as being rude.

Yes, kid's areas are a necessity. I believe that you are wrong when you discount their importance in drawing customers. Look how busy the kiddie rides are at any park. A lot of kid's go to parks from a young age, and work their way up until they can ride the bigger rides. It's a big deal for those tiny ones to reach a certain height so that they can get on the bigger rides, but while they are waiting to grow, they still need smaller rides to ride.

Let me reiterate that last point in different words. I have seen countless small kids at not only the parks that I have worked, but also the park that I have visited, desire to be taller so that they could ride bigger rides. They are there, at the park, so they still need smaller rides to ride until they are tall enough.

I have also seen countless kids who were too scared of the big rides. They need stuff to do too.

Every family is different, but nagging children come at any age, or size.

Wow, Paul. That was way too intelligently articulated to belong on the internet. ;) (<--"Yes, I know I'm being sarcastic, please don't take offense." :) )

The question isn't whether Planet Snoopy will be as big of a draw as the coasters WERE in 87. It's whether Planet Snoopy is as big a draw as a brand new Vortex (or other $8 million coaster) would be TODAY.

And what you did wasn't?

The proof is in your posts, man (or...boy). There's no use in trying to defend yourself after lashing out in such an offensive and immature manner.

Holiday World hasn't made a single ignorant addition since it debuted. Is it not obvious, by now, that they know exactly what they're doing?

Howler replaced by Jr TGG :)

Paul Revere was completely rehabbed about three years ago..

The only thing I can think of in Holidogs is the Freedom train. Is it destined for the Museum and replaced by a Chance?

Even if they were the Purchaser of LZ I wouldn't see it opening till 2012

Paula dropped another hint:

"Promised to start leaking a few details about 2011 today. For next year in Holiday World, we will replace one ride with a vaguely similar ride."

They could possibly replace "Paul Revere's Midnight Ride," although it was refurbished a few years ago it does have horrible throughput.

Another guess I read: replacing the canoes with a splash battle.

^That would be awesome - for the adults at least. Those canoes always drew my attention, but I think I'd sink one before getting around the course. :)
