Hersheypark announces Fahrenheit, a new Intamin coaster with a 97-degree drop, vertical lift and 2,700 feet of track.
Visit the official Hersheypark site.
No, I didn't. Can someone link to where this is described?
Though 97 degrees is pretty ridic.
Since it makes more sense here anyway, I'll paste my response to the "other" forum thread...LOL!
I almost think this is another Scream! Does Hershey really need any more explosive (and *expensive*) thrill rides? I figured they had that market pretty much cornered in their region... If I were the one running Herco, I probably would have purchased a flat ride package, or something more along the lines of Spinning Dragons (i.e., a Gerstlauer or M-S spinner, the Reverchon type being too similar to the mouse they already have). Disappointed? Heck no! But I do kinda think they may be spending more than necessary by "over-capitalizing" on rides...
Honestly, Sans Hyper, Hershey will have the most diverse and unique set of coasters in the country.
Go, Sweetest park in America! GO!
Chuck, who says, SEE, There are Corporate parks I like.
It's a sweet new roller coaster, why are people complaining, they've never even rode it.
Good question.
What a strange week. Earlier in the week some people were doing all they could to defend one park chain that announced that it was CLOSING a 119 year old park (closing the ride side and keeping a water park is still closing an AMUSEMENT park)... now we have folks who are complaining about another park ADDING a new coaster... saying it is too similar to another coaster in the park (or worse, saying it is too similar to another coaster 6 1/2 hours to the west).
Why do I have the sneeking suspision that if the rolls were reversed, the complaints would be reversed? If Hershey announced it was removing even one coaster at the expense of the water park, and Geauga Lake was adding a coaster half the size of Fahrenheit, the same people would be condeming Hershey as evil incarnate, while at the same time be praising CF for adding the greatest coaster since the invention of tubular steel track.
I'm a bit surprised that Hershey is putting in another ride which is essentially the same type as Storm Runner. not that I mind; I just find it interesting.
Seriously, I wonder how the ride is going to be oriented. You do have some terrain to work with there, as there is quite a drop from the 3-D theatre down to the entrance to Tidal Force. It seems natural to make the top hat appear more prominent, but I also think they should provide a great view from the midway of the Norwegian Cheese Doodle* or whatever it's called. That will be something watching trains zip through there.
