Hi. This is my first time on this forum. We have 2 kids - ages 13 & 11 - they LOVE roller coasters. We were planning to go to Six Flags of Ohio, but I read on another forum (a disney forum) that SFO is Dirty, crowded, the employees are rude, the rides break down alot, the rides are too packed together, and there is no shade.
We have gone to CP for the past 2 years. Should we take the chance and go to SFO or just go back to CP?
See... it's not just enthusiasts. Even Disney freaks know the difference.
If they love coasters, take them to Cedar Point. The variety is huge (mind you I'm not saying they're the best in their class), and most polls put three of the top five steel coasters in the world at The Point.
And the shows in Red Garter are quite good. ;)

I have not been to either, but from the way SFO is reviewed on this forum I would go to CP. Just my .2$, Welcome to CoasterBuzz!

Go to Cedar Point! Six Flags is really dirty and trashy! Don't waste your time at Six Flags, you will be really disappointed. Cedar Point, it just doesn't get any better than that!
Cedar Point, I have been going there each month for the past 5 years. I did go to Six Flags Ohio I wasnt to pleased with the park because the staff isnt realy nice and they dont treat the guests good at all. I would stick with Cedar Point also if your in town go to Kings Island.

Since you have been to CP for the past 2 years, and the overall feedback about SFWOA is not very good, you should consider Paramount's King's Island instead.

Between Cedar Point and Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, I'd choose the Point. No Six Flags bashing, I prefer the Point to SFWoA. But jdancisin has a good suggestion-- head downstate. PKI is a very nice park. I do try to avoid children, so I have no idea what kids 13 and 11 think of Nickelodeon, but there is Nick Central at PKI. And of course the Beast.

You think these so-called "Disney Freaks" are NOT enthusiasts? I think you're wrong there.
Anyway, for a one day trip, I would suggest CP. But since you been there the last two years, you might want to go to SFWoA instead. Remember, variety is the spice of life. If you go to SFWoA with the intent of simply riding the rides and hanging out with your family, I would anticipate that you would have a good time. If you go to parks expecting some sort of nirvana, I suggest getting the hell out of Ohio and going to HersheyPark or BGT instead.

They are close enough together that you could go to both. Cedar Point is better overall, but SF has some unique coasters that are worth a trip there. They have 3 of the best coasters in Ohio, IMO. The Villian, Knight Flight and Superman Escape are 3 excellent rides.
Our family went their last august on a weekday, it was not crowded, and all coasters were running except the Big Dipper that day. Reports from this year have not been as good, but we did have a very nice day there.
You should go to both, so you can get the experience of both parks. They are only an hour apart
Side note not related to coasters: I saw Janet Jackson last night and she was awesome. Just wanted everyone to know!:)

Dayuum, Your HOT!
Wow! I am amazed at all the great responses I have gotten. Thanks!
That is a good idea to try both. Maybe SFO first, then CP?
Super7: You mentioned 3 coasters at SFO, but not X-Flight. How is X-Flight, anyone?
Cedar Point: the World Largest Collection of Mediocre Rides! The only reason I'd ever go back is if they got something new and big or for Millennium Force. I liked SFWOA better.

I just went to Six Flags Worlds of Adventure on Saturday 7/28. Big Dipper, Mind Eraser, The observation tower, and flying wolf bobs were all closed that day. We rode X-flight, nice ride, but for as short as the line was, we waited 2 hours and 40 minutes to ride.
I have been in much longer lines at Cedar Point and not had to wait so long to board. The staff is not up to par at the Six Flags park in Ohio, I don't know if other Six Flags parks are like this but, as a long time CP fan, I really am spoiled by the attention to detail and excellent customer experience the CP tends to deliver year after year. PKI is a great park as well, just don't go on a Saturday or you will spend much of the day in lines.
We commented amongst ourselves that there was no place to sit down and take a rest and watch the people go by while we were in SFWoA. A real bummer for me, next to riding coasters and thrill rides, people watching is my next favorite activity at the parks.
Cedar point Is a nicer park..6 flags is a good park as well,But it is a budget park. Cheap Admission for ride park, Waterpark, Animal park .So SFWOA does offer more bang for the buck. Cedar point does have water park available for an extra $ 20 /head .At cedar points frontier trail you can pet a goat. But cedar point does offer a Great selection of coasters and flat rides. Six Flags Coaster Collection is quite Impressive in itself. Cedar point is an Excellent Choice for a park. SFWOA IS a Good Choice for a park.

Hello Dangle,
Honestly, CP is a much better park in every shape and form. Yea, you have to pay for the waterpark, but it is Cedar Point of Waterparks. SFWoA has good coasters, good shows, and nice scenery over at the wild life side. However, as you know, CP has great Coasters, great shows, and beautiful scenery throughout the park. As stated in others' posts, the customer service and ride opps are outstanding at CP. SFWoA is just lacking in so many areas. My opinion? Try SFWoA when you get sick of CP. Have Fun!

I was also at SFWoA on 7/28. X-Flight is an awesome coaster and my favortie (beating Millennium Force, tough decision). Here's a chart to help you out.
Cedar Point
14 roller coasters
The first "giga" coaster
#5 rated Raptor
#2 rated Millennium Force
#1 rated Magnum XL 200
Clean and nicely shaded
Saw at least 10 security guards in 15 minutes
Sin Flags World's of Adventure
10 roller coasters
The midwest's only "flying" coaster
Batman Knight Flight the longest floorless coaster
Superman:Ultimate Escape the world's first vertical spiraling coaster
Has a sea life park attached to it
Dirty and hardly and handymen
Saw one security guard the whole day
Here's how SFWoA has ya. You have to go to SFWoA to ride a flying, floorless, and vertical spiraling coaster. You have to go to CP to ride a giga, stand-up, and hyper coaster. I would pick CP. Hope that this helps.:)

Top 3 things I hate:
3.Red Lights 2.Lines
1.SFWoA ride op's :)
Now keep in mind they've been to CP the last 2 years. I personally would go to SFWoA just because I've never been there and been to CP a lot. And I need a higher track record and to go to more parks.

If you wanna dis me, then go knit a seater... or somethin' like that...
Brandon hit it right on the nose, CP, the largest collection of mediocre rides, except for MF and Raptor. I personally liked SFWOA better because I thought it had better rides. I go to parks strictly for coasters though. I could care less about the other stuff. When it comes to coasters, SFWOA is better, not for quantity, but quality and variety.
If you haven't been there, you have to make the pilgrimage. Go to Cedar Point
Cedar point no questions asked just go!:)
