Hellevator: Best drop ride period!

I believe that Pitt Fall is also one of the "taller" towers in the world. I know it not THE talles, but it's up there with the others.

The Fabri drop towers do a really great job of stopping very sudden as well. The ERT on the one at Libertyland last year was one of my highlights of the year. Tina, remember that?

LOL, I'm not Tina but I *did* stay at Holiday Inn Express last night...;)

Good to have *confirmation* that Revolution IS in fact a Fabbri tower. That also means that the one at Cypress is also Fabbri...and yes, they ARE *sudden stoppers*....FUN rides!

Gotta agree that most of the S&S towers lean a bit to the "family-friendly" side, but I think it's more the way that they're RUN than the way they're designed. For instance, HW runs their S&S more like a Frog Hopper (no offense!), but IB seems to PUMP theirs giving *incredible* air on the first AND second launches...

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

I love Pittfall. Best drop rides "outside" I have been on. Especially during "fright nights" very cold, facing the lit up river at 11:30 night. Now that is a ride!!

Also, I was on once and it was pretty grey, as we were descending it started pouring RAIN. Of course there were some winds, you could feel the tower move a little bit, that was the best ride I had on Pittfall to this day!

I agree with ToT. Best themed drop ride ANYWHERE!! I was on that thing in 97 and I loved it! Scared the daylights out of me, especially the first sudden drop.

I still need to come down to FL, and review my parks. Haven't had the chance. :-( Oh well next year most Def!

Oh yes I remember, Sean. We had muchos ERT on that puppy!

I do not care for Acrophobia simply because it hurts my back.......kind of takes the "WOW!" out of it. lol.

I can't wait to see my Drop Zone Sunday. :-P

3rd Gen>1st Gen>2nd Gen>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Acrophobia

That's how I rank them(and yes, I do dispise Acrophobia).

Chattanooga needs a ITG2 Machine!
Macho Nacho, I don't think anyone answered your question yet.

If I am wrong on this, someone please chime in.

1st gen is like Mr Hydes nasty fall at GL or Demon Drop at CP. After taking you up an elevator shaft they slowly pull forward. They are somewhat on a track for the drop and lay you on your back at the end.

2nd gen is like Pittfall at KW or Hellivator at KK.

3rd gen is like Drop Zone at PKI and PKD, and differs from 2nd by seating a lot more riders and rotating while assending the tower. I think Acrophobia is also a 3rd gen.

Another big difference between 2nd and 3rd is that 3rd has One big ring of seats while 2nd has seperate ride vehicles. Some 2nd gens have 3 (SFA, I think), while others have more. Another words, some 2nd gens less/have more capacity than others.

...I think.

Another vote for PKI's Drop Zone. I was at KW alone on my visit, I couldn't get up the nerve to ride Pitfall. Next time, I'll bring a fearless guest. :)

Does it count if I keep my eyes closed the entire time?

I shoulda known something was up when you didn't let go even after the restraints unlocked...;)

Kidding! I've never even ridden a drop tower with Robo...but we DID sit together on Scandia's kiddie coaster, so I figure I did pretty well, LOL...;)

The best drop ride IMO would have to be the 120m (around 400 feet) Giant Drop at Dreamworld Australia. :) *** Edited 4/26/2005 5:58:14 AM UTC by Alyssa***
