headbanging

People on Coasterbuzz talk about coasters they went on that have really bad headbanging. I have never experianced headbanging. And I went on GASM(an arrow looper), and I did not hurt my head in any way. What coasters have headbanging?

Sometimes it depends on where ya sit.  Where did you sit?
Mr. ego, I can't remember, I think I sat in the middle.

I think a lot of the headbanging complaints are because it's the cool thing to complain about. I've never been on a coaster that was headbangy enough to not want to ride it again. Growing up I just assumed that being jostled a little was part of the coaster experience. The ONLY coaster that I refuse to ride is raging wolf bobs, but that's poor train design.

I think enthusiasts, like everyone else, like to have something to whine about, and "headbanging" is the gripe du jour.

Hmm, you've been on RWB which means you've been in Ohio. Had you been to PKI (or PKD) before this year and ridden Outer Limits: Flight of Fear? That coaster was a headbanging machine! Even now, with the lapbars it is easy to tell where it *would* hurt.

GASM-II, while a completely rough piece of crap, did not bang my head. Rather, it felt like the track had potholes in it :).

This is known in some parts of the Muslim world as compassionate conservatism

Complain about head banging because its the cool thing to do?  I don't think so! When I was in 8th grade, Shockwave at SFGAm gave me a splitting headache and severe back pain for the rest of the day from the way it threw me around and banged my head.  Believe me, there are coasters that bang...and shockwave is one of the worst.

Probably why it never has a line.

If you are taller and your head is above the harness Headbanging doesn't really happen.  I am 5' 9 and most the time my head is above the harness, but when I was smaller I used to hit my head all the time on Shockwave and other rough rides.

The Chiller was pretty brutal w/ OTSR but Jokers Jinx has an incredible amount of headbanging. You try to enjoy it but its just bang bang bang the whole ride.
I really don't know where everyone experiances Shockwave's "headbanging". This ride could've passed for a B&M when I rode it this sunday. It was simply incredible. Yes, I've been in most, if not all the rows and I will admit the front row, whil still smooth, is rougher than the back row abd that's only before the mid course breaks . I guess everyone got used to B&M's smooth as glass feeling and now if there's a little bump they condemn the coaster, which is why we have the Drachen Fyre situation. Everyone complains until the park listens to the complaints and takes some action, and then once the ride is dismantled, or SBNO everyone wants it back.

The only coaster I have experienced headbanging is on Revolution at SFMM, since it wasn't really designed for OTSR's. But Arrow loopers are just rough, not headbangy.

Ah, that must be it, being 6'3" tall. Neckbanging?

Used to B&Ms and now everything seems rough?  NO!  My story was from when I was in 8th grade...which was(counts) 1995, well before the likes of Raging Bull were around(granted batman and iron wolf were there, but IW isn't the smoothest thing)  Anyways, this has nothing to do with being used to anything...I seriously got hurt on that ride.  I rode in the front row, and I'm glad you think this ride is as smooth as a B&M, but I"m telling you the ride seriously hurt me in the first row.  Don't always doubt what people say and think people are over-reacting.
I once got really hurt on Psyclone, but there is no headbanging. I think I bruised a rib and couldn't breath well until i got home and iced my side down. This ride seems to resemble the Crystal Beach Cyclone instead of the Coney Island one.

Ninja's headbanging (at SFOG) isn't just awful... it's God-awful
SFGRAMBoy20: I'm not overreacting and I don't doubt you got hurt on it, after all, somthing has to be up with the ride (that i honestly don't see) for so many people to complain about it.

The roughest part of a B&M is having to get off.
I never complained about it on the Steel Phantom.

Kennywood is my home park!!!
I thought shockwave was teh same as any other arrow mega-looper but then again I thought Iron Wolf was teh antichrist and everybody tries to tell me that thing doesn't headbang.  T2 is pretty headbangy I thought sure I was gonna lose my glasses, and I always where glasses on coasters with no problem, and to keep my contacts fronm fliying out, I found that out on Millie.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
I think most of us here view headbanging as a nuisance.  I seriously doubt that any of us skip some of these coaster when we go to parks.  We just kinda take our lumps and go on.  I would be careful about putting DF's fate on the heads of any of us here at CB.  The general public speaks volumes.  We make up a fraction of a fraction of the vote.

I rode "X" and never went upside down.
Homey G.: And that's totally true. Parks don't build to please enthusiasts, they do it to attract the GP, and I believe a fair share of DF's fate sits in the hands of the GP, only because the GP found it rough, was dissatisfied, and BGW listened to them. However, I'm still sticking to my point that if there was no B&M or Intamin, We (Enthusiasts and GP alike) would complain a lot less about a coaster being rough.

Joker's Jinx was closed when I was at SFA this season, so I've never been on it - but I'd definitely vote for Mind Eraser as the worst headbanger I've been on.  That kind of thing doesn't usually bother me, but it seemed exceptionally harsh on Mind Eraser...my girlfriend wears glasses (yes, she left them on for the ride) and got a really bad headache because the headbanging was so terrible.  I wasn't in such bad shape, but as we were waiting to return to the station (someone was holding up the previous train's loading) we agreed it was really excessive.  This is on the Mind Eraser at SFA, of course - there are a few clones of it elsewhere, has anybody else noticed exceptional headbanging on this coaster?
