Have the Premier Lap Bars Disabled OnRide Photos?

Recently, the on-ride cameras for Batman & Robin: The Chiller, were removed. In 2001, when Robin was open, I was able to purchase a photo of me on Robin with the new lapbars (see profile). The picture came out very good.

Now, I'm hearing that two of the Flight Of Fear Cameras have been turned off as well. Is there some sort of problem with the cameras and capturing a good picture? As you can see from my profile, it took a very good picture. Anybody know why?

How much more floorless can they get?

no it is just a matter that the whole novelty of on ride photos is dying down, most everyone has been to a park and people are just sick of the photos, and it is not worth the amount of money that has to go into manageing, supplying, staffing, schedualing a on ride photo booth for a ride that isent extremly popular!

No, the popularity of on-ride photos is not dying down. But, the popularity of a photo on a 5+ year old ride dwindles. Every major new 2002 coaster I rode this year had a photo. It's easier to move a photo from an older ride than buying/staffing a second.

Some parks like Knotts are making major investments in on ride photos. They are replacing older TVs that show the pictures (or lack of TVs at the gate picture place) with 17" flat panel monitors and Macintosh G4s, and networking the systems to show photos from around the park at each photo booth.

I remember when Geauga Lake park printed out every photo taken on Big Dipper, Raging Wolf Bobs, and Mind Eraser. Cheap little B&W shots.

And every one was printed.

Now its all computerized and none of those rides have the photo booths anymore. Now its Batman, Serial Thriller, & Villain.

I wouldn't be so sure that novelty in a ride plays much or any role in removing an on ride photo system.

Take SFA's Roar for example,it's wrapping up it's 4th season at the park and still has it's on ride camera, whereas Mind eraser had it's camera removed in 97,just 2 years after the coaster added.

I'm wondering if cost is a factor,if the photos on a certain ride aren't selling as much as expected then maybe parks should consider lowering the cost in order to see a profit.

Well, sure! People would love to buy a pic of them smiling, laughing, and having fun on Roar. Why would they want to buy a pic of themselves wincing in pain on Mind Eraser? :)

I noticed that to. I have a pic of me on Robin with lap bars and on the Batman side with the OTSR. Chillers photo was running in the beginning of the season but then it vanished. I also have a JJ photo from last season which is gone this year. As far as I know the photo on FOF at PKD is still there because I bought mine when I went in the beginning of August. I think JJ photo was removed because of lack of popularity and Chillers was removed because of ride down time but then again my Robin photo is pretty pixled but my FOF and JJ are crystal clear. Does anyone know if Mr. Freeze or Poltergeist still have one ?

Mr. Freeze at SfStL no longer has its pics anymore. I find all of this very interesting.
Well now that popularity is returning to some of these rides I say it's time to bring back some of those on ride cameras.

Actually, PKD's FoF has added some new stuff this year. You now get an Alien riding in the seat behind you, and they added Crisp Flat Screens.

I enjoy On-Ride Photos personally. I love making funny faces on it, then see it when I'm done and watch people laugh at me. Good Times!

Drop Oup at PKD in 2003!
OoOoOo...Rolley Coaster!

On ride photos are a good way to get a re ride at a disney park. bribe the people in front of you on CP to raise their hands on the drop, and then complain to the ride op guy that you intended to buy an on ride photo, and then re ride.
