Has your homepark inproved since SF took over?

What about Great Adventure. They continue to put in new *world class* roller coasters and continue to attract guests each year. I have been to Great Adventure many times (2x this year) and I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience there. As long as Great Adventure continues to put in great rides, they will always attract me there. Nice, clean park as well. Probably the best SF out there in my opinion.

BATWING FAN SFA said: to top it all off they added a trim brake just before the helix.

"Better to kill the ride than the rider" - Jason Knutson

When I went on Wild One in the rain on July 28th I was sitting in 4-2 on the left side and that was almost to the point where it was unbearable (but not quite ;) ). I think it NEEDED the trim there. :/

Arrow, even the straight parts of our coasters hurt.

Even with the trims the helix can still be a bit brutal especially if you're riding the left side of the train.
Ever since Darien Lake was flagged, it's been a mixed blessing. Yes, we received S:RoS, but we've also had the majority of the water slides that were in the waterpark demolished and not be replaced with the exception of Shipwreck Falls, a basic Intamin shoot the chutes ride which SF tries unsuccessfully tries to pass off as something bigger than it really is in the advertising they do.
I agree about Cyclone at SFNE. SF ruined a classic.:(

First off...SF didn't "take over" anything- the name was bought by Premier. Darien hasn't really changed much other than a paint job- then again it was rare for it to ever change so I guess that's the same. Back when the purchase first occured we got an SLC and the 2,456th Boomerang Coaster and of course Superman-Ride of Steel- but hey that was FIVE years ago- all's we've gotten since are extra charge fairground rides (Sling Shot). Persoanally I'd rather save my money for a road trip to a real park (I mean even Martin's Fantasy Island has gotten more new rides recently than Darien!).
It looks like things won't be improving all that much within the next season at most SF parks.

SFI just reported a major loss for the 2nd quarter & they've stated that, for the most part there's no chance of them being able to meet their attendance goals for the season so it looks like 04 might be a soft year as far as new rides are concerned.

I wouldn't be too suprised if even the big 4 are effected by this next year.

My home park is PKI. It used to be Geauga Lake/SFWoA although I always considered CP as my home park before SF took over. I know there are some complaints about SFWoA, but I am thankful that they have added more rides and combined Sea World as well. I did not visit SFWoA in 2002, so I cannot comment on that. Adding some attractive rides like Villain, RRE, and X-Flights showed me that they are trying to improve the park. We will see what happens.

As for the "discussion" between CP and SFMM, I am happy that they are building coasters. Sure there is a competition between them, but I am not complaining. CP, SFWoA and PKI compete also. MF and SOB attracted many people. SFWoA added four that same year. In Ohio, SFWoA will always be "RC Cola".

I have one question though. Why is it stupid for CP and SFMM to add coasters? They are choosing to add coasters for a new ride each year. PKI added Delirium, Tomb Raider, and Scooby Doo. Many parks add a new ride or two every year. I see nothing wrong with that. CP calls itself the "Roller Coast". They have almost 70 rides and 1/5 of them are roller coasters. By saying that, they want to be known as the park with many roller coasters. CP and SFMM have 16 coasters each. When they add 17th or more, I will visit them.

Woodyman, you forget all of the flats that Premier has removed over the years at WOA. While not the big ticket items, some of the flats were well loved and all kept bodies off of the midway. I imagine that the ride count at WOA has gone down since 1995.

And with three of their additions beign Vekoma i can't even say that all of the coaster additions were benefitial to the park ;)

From my knowledge the parent company SFI kind of treats each park the same as far as operation guidelines go. I think that it's up to each parks management (or lack therein) to deal with the crazy operating proceedures placed on each induvidual park by SFI. It's easy to say that WOA is floundering because they cannot deal with the odd demands by SFI, but other parks are doing ok. So while one must say that SFI doesn't create an atmosphere for the parks in which to thrive, it is ultimately the parks management's issue if they are unable to overcome that and be profitable.

No new coasters next year for SF's park so I hope SFWOA keeps focusing on customer experience. This season is much better than the last season.
