Has B and M ever had an original Coaster Design?

I don't mean in the layout or anythign like that but an actual type of coaster. They have imprived and perfected on everything , Arrow Suspended became B and M Invetrted, Togo and Intamin standup became B and M standup, Vekoma Flyer became B and M Flyer, etc etc etc. The only type I can think of that they came up with themselves is the floorless model which is just a twist on a sitdown I suppose. Are there any other?

The B&M inverted it was the first. One thing about B&M is they take old ideas and make them better like the flyers. Most of the designs are original too except batman.

Well the Inverted is actually quite a far cry from the suspended. lol i wouldent call that really improving the idea as its pretty much so completly different in design. but thats just my opinion lol. Other wise no :p
Was a B and M invert really a new design though or just an Improvement upon the suspended coater? Arrow Suspended were to have Inversions after all. I I said I didn't mean the layout of coasters either IE the Batman's and Chang/Mantis.

How about the B&M vertical drop coasters, those appear original.

Actually didnt W. Bolliger and C.Mabilard(the guys, not the company itself) use to work for Intimin and built there Stand-up (Ex. ,Batman the Ecscape at SAastroworld ) then started a company of there own.

It's an original. It's has nothing on the sitdowns. It's vertical, has a holding break...features 8 across cars. I'd say original.

I would also call the inverted original, and the flyer's and stand-up's improvements. Although at the time that Intamin was building stand-up's I believe B&M were working for them...so I dunno how you'd categorize that.

Also, didnt B&M be the first to come up with the idea of a flyer? They had problems executing it though or something?

I believe they were the first and only company to do the floorless coaster too.
The early B&M stand up and Intiman stand up were Giovanola patents so B&M doesn't take the record for developing it but did make dramatic improvents to the concept.

I cal a floorless an improvemnt as it really is nothign more then a sitdown. Vertical Drop and Inver is the only one that I oculd be argued with saying they "could" be original.

If you think about it alittle a Inverted is a floorless suspended coaster therefore it has to be as much original to flooress is compared to sitdown.

No Not really. An Invert is much more different from a Suspended then a Floorless is from a sitdown.

Yea Maybe your right, I just had to throw that in there. :)

I hate to say this, but you could say the same thing about every coaster, since they all came from the common roots of the first steel and the first wood coaster.

actually, B&M had the idea of a flying coaster long before vekoma thought of it. however, vekoma rushed the R&D of their flyers, whereas B&M took their time and ironed out all the potential problems which vekoma did not.

Laurence is right. Also, what about this new mystery patent? Although it seems a little 4-dish it seems to me like it is a variation on it or something but not quite a copy of it.
A suspended coaster is completely different than an inverted coaster. Batman: The Ride was the first of its kind.

Who cares ? BMW didn't invent the car, but you sure as hell shouldn't complain because they do it better.
