Has a coaster ever derailed?

The Old Indiana incident involved the park's railroad not a kiddie coaster.

"I think it's impossible with today's technology (I'm not discounting the previous examples). Look at the wheel assembly though...you have a wheel on top of the track, below it and to the side...on every car!!!! It seems like all the previous examples given were old coasters, but I'm shocked by the Space Mountain incident."

with the Mindbender in Edmonton, they showed that one wheel assembly can still fail. The trains it has now look weird, like all the cars are for the front, since they all have slanted fronts and two wheel assemblys each.

Does anyone have pictures they could post of the Mindbender accident?
Corkscrew at Alton Towers derailed and stopped upside-down.
The coney island cyclone derailed once and this boys leg got cut off.
deja'vu @ SFOG derailed during testing awhile back, so obviously no one was hurt since it was a test run...

I wondered what happed to that Indiana park...

I heard some people talking about "how King Cobra derailed so they shut it down and removed it" I swear some people just mutate rumors. I'm pretty sure they were talking about The Bat rumor and just got mixed up, but who knows.

Your best? Losers are always whining about doing their best...winners go home and ******* the prom queen.
If you want to see that kind of thing, Mindbender WE accident, look into the history of the West Edmonton Mall. I can say that on more than one documentary about that mall, they've shown very graphic pictures of the accident. You don't really want to see them, and I was shocked the first time I saw them on TV. I don't recall them saying what was exactly up, but a nonservicable part of the train broke, flawing of the assembly did cause it to derail. The train broke on the inside(?), making a situation designers and such had no way of knowing about. The trains were redesigned to take into account what had been seen as impossible, or should I say something they had never had to take into account. Three cars instead of four, all new assemblies, and OTSRs were put on over a year after that accident. I think the results would have been just as tragic had that train not derailed, it derailed because of the accident that took place, and they put Schwartzkopf through a ringer about it.

"Martling, you are wrong. When FOF first opened at PKI, it jumped the track. Thats back when it was up to top speed tho. They had to slow it down due to this incident.

No offense, but unless one of the wheel assemblies broke, then that wouldn't happen. Unless, some track was missing ;)
Im not sure what went wrong, but I remember this is the reason that they slowed FOF down. Ill lookk into it and see if I can find an old article or something.

they DID slow FOF down. But I doubt its cause of any derailment or stuff.
No it was because of a derailment. I cant find anything on it, but I distinctively remember FOF derailing due to the LIMs going too fast.

My ghost trains on RCT derail all the time.....

Top 5 Coaster
1.X-Flight 2.Millennium Force 3.Superman Ultimate Escape 4.Raptor 5.Batman Knight Flight
how could FOF derail if it were launched too fast?like aren't the trains locked in place on the track using the 3 wheel system? I don't see how excessive speed could cause a coaster to derail.and yes Raptorfan00 I've had the same problem in RCT with the ghost train derailing myself that's why I hardly ever build them.
i think its the amount of negative or positive g's exerted on the wheels, if there is too many + g's on wheels, they could crush or the screws might buckel, and too many - g's, the screws could just buckle. im pretty sure thats whats going on.

Orient Express derailed a few summers ago.
Desperado's trains "bumped" in the station during safety testing back when it was being finished.
Canyon Blaster skipped a few too many dogs with the train rolling back a little bit when it was undergoing safety checks at its beginning.

How do you "know"... did you see it? Do you have any thing to back up your claim?

I just don't see how that could be right. There was never anything mentioned in ACE news, Rollercoaster, or First Drop about FOF derailing. (I remember certain bits of news mentioned about the period it was shut down, and some reasons for the law suit, but nothing remotely close to a derailment.)

No offense, but (for now at least) you are the only one that seems to think it derailed. If ANYONE has any solid info like an article in an industry mag, please share!!!!!

It's pretty hard to believe someone when they have absolutely no facts to go on. While we're at it, Magnum collapsed once! I don't know how, when, or why, but it happened.
