i was there everyday too in the cemetery and i was freezin. When i went just to go i had a winter coat on.
I've been making the cross crountry trip to Knott's Scary Farm since '99 (I live in FL). Needless to say, I LOVE it!

MantisMan- any chance of giving us a hint at this year's mazes?

Rollergator~ the haunted house at BGT/HOS that you're thinking of is Dark Heart's Fear Fair (but I like your name better- tee hee).

Halloween ''event'' or not, fall is easily my favorite time to hit the parks. Lighter (usually) crowds, crisp cool air, it all makes for a pleasant experience.

Then any special Halloween stuff is a bonus. :-)

Thanks ABH, saved me from having to find those old park maps....:)

Someday I'll get around to cataloguing all that park "stuff" again...had it done once before the entire house got put into storage, LOL...

Since I'm crowd-averse, I've found I actually have a much better time at HOS than at HHN...I'll give HHN another shot since last year's two-park event seems to have spread the guests more thinly. But I'll still go back to BGT, I know why they've won some awards for HOS...:)

Only 166 more days till Halloween, hehehe. Sorry I couldnt contian myself.

CP was incredable, I only waisted time doing one haunted house because coasters were beconing...

Aww. Going to a park during Halloween and skipping the haunted houses (mazes?) is like going to the same park in July and skipping the coasters.

Well, I think that depends on the taste of the person who is skipping the haunted houses, and their motivation for visiting during the Halloween event.

In my case, I don't like to take many trips in June, July, and August for 2 reasons:

1) WAY too hot for my taste, and more importantly,

2) Even if you are lucky enough to get a 10 PM closing time, due to the combination of late summer sunsets and Daylight Savings Time, the opportunities for night rides are VERY limited compared to the Halloween events. I am OBSESSED with night rides!

So, during summer I usually just do short 2 and 3 hours sessions at my home park, in the evenings up until closing. I find the heat down south too brutal to do full days.

When the first of October rolls around, I hit the road, visiting a different park each weekend. Since the parks are in "weekend only" mode, I don't even have to use much vacation time, driving up Friday for the LONG Friday night sessions and coming home Monday after a nice, three day weekend with plenty of night rides in the cool weather.

These trips have been my BEST ever trips to the parks I've visited in October.

The combination of cooler weather and being able to take my time and experience EACH AND EVERY coaster in the park after dark is PERFECT! I don't have to run around in a mad dash to squeeze as many night rides as possible in a limited amount of night operation such as in summer.

On the best of these night sessions during October, I also get night rides on most or all of the flat rides, the train, antique cars, log rides, etc., all of which I find more enjoyable after dark!

If I spent 1 hour (or more!) in a line for a haunted house, it would take away from my coveted night time on the coasters and other rides, which is why I'm there in October in the first place!

I do about 4 Fright Fest trips every year, and I don't think I've EVER done a Haunted House!

If I were a hard-core, Halloween/Haunted House enthusiast, then yes, I would definitely feel like I am missing something.

But since I'm not into them much anyway, it would seem silly from my point of view to stand in long lines for them that could cost me too many night rides on the coasters and other rides.

If I want to do a Haunted House, I'd rather just go to a local haunted house each year. Many years I don't get around to doing that anyway!

However, I am very GRATEFUL that there is a lot of enthusiasm for Halloween and Haunted Houses out there, because this is what encourages the parks to do the long night sessions during October in the first place!

Not to mention each person standing in line for a house is helping to keep the lines for night rides on the coasters shorter for people like me! :)

Also, since I am there SOLELY for the longer night operation and NOT for the houses, I am VERY GRATEFUL to the parks who don't put an "upcharge" on these events and treat them as regular operating days/nights in which a season pass is accepted.

Because with an upcharge, I'd be paying for houses I wouldn't be visiting anyway, just to get night rides.
