Gwazi Dueling Petition

You build it, Market it, and Advertise it as a dueling coaster, False Advertising?????

Chuck, who still loves a coaster named Racer that sometimes races.

167 coasters and hopes to be over 200 by the end of 2002 :)

Charles,

Did you go to PKI last year? Everytime I was there, which was a lot, the Racers were racing.

I think it would be a much more important undertaking to adress to the park how poor the loading procedures are on this coaster. They really need to do something about this.

Also, as previously stated, they will often duel the coasters if asked nicely. It really doesn't improve the ride experience but they will do it on occasion. Why shouldn't they? The trains sit there forever waiting to be dispatched anyway. What's another minute of waiting for it to duel when the trains are already taking forever to dispatch?

Yeah but if they trained their ops better to be more consistent, then it'd work. It can be done. It just depends on how slow or fast one side is compared to the other. Practice makes perfect, and they haven't been shoing practice. So therefore the aren't perfect, making them reside to this.

Well, for one thing, the order that they check your restraints takes a long time..they check your seatbelt, then lower the lapbars, then go back and check your lapbar. Why can't they do both at the same time?

Chuck,

Yes, the park did advertise the coaster with 'dueling' aspects but when I was down there a few weeks ago, I noticed that all of the shirts and other gifts in the gift shop no longer had the world 'dueling' printed on the. Instead, I saw, " The Southeast's Only Double Wooden Coaster" on a lot of things.

I don't know how many times you people have to keep saying stuff like this. Check lapbars and seatbelts at the same time. Get the fastest employees in the park. What is this garbage.

How do you expect to check seat belts and lap bars when you get the occasional idiots who think the seat belts are just a pretty decoration or just there for kids and feel that as an adult they don't need it. When the ride op comes over to check their restraints and finds out some moron doesn't have their belt on the ride op has to unlock all the lap bars just so the person can put their belt on and then the ride op has to go back and double check all the other lap bars that they already checked. Does this speed anything up???? NO!

2nd having the best employees isn't going to help either. Yes the B&M's load much faster because they are much easier to load. It can be done in a standing positions vs. bending over to check lap bars and seat belts. Also being fast doesn't always been being safe. Anheuser-Busch parks are among the safest parks in the world for good reason. They care about guest safety were as other Florida parks have very limited safety procedures for their rides. Besides Rhino Rally when was the last major accident on an Anheuser-Busch ride??? The only one i can think of is Fabio getting hit my a bird when he rode Apollo's Chariot back when AC opened in 1999 and that was a freak accident not the park's fault. Focusing on fast employees puts too much of a safety risk because the employees are focusing too much on sending the coasters out as quickly as possible they over look safety. The safety of the rides will always be their first priority above all else. If too many people got hurt or killed they will close the ride down and then no one will be able to ride. This is just something you are going to have to except and live with. For better or worse.

Gwazi God: I completely disagree. The ride ops on Gwazi are not taking a long time because of safety, they are taking a long time because they are lazy! They stand around, talk to each other, walk slowly from car to car. They really don't care about moving the line along. Also, many times they have 2 trains on the track, but only fill one. That is idotic to me. It's like a tease watching these empty trains.

Also, even if they check your seatbelt, what is stopping you from taking it off once you're on the lift? Not that I would do this, but it's obvious that it could be done, and if you really didn't want to wear the belt, you could.

They could also visually check for belts instead of pulling and tugging as hard as they do. A few times I've complained and actually loosened my belt because they pulled so hard.

They should also announce what the train is loading that riders should first put on the seatbelt, before the lap bars will come down. Sure the recording says this, but you can't hear it at all. The ride ops should announce it over the speaker. Then people would realize there is a seat belt.

Lastly, it's not lke the coaster is that good anyway that the belt will make a difference. There is barely any air at all on the ride, so who cares. They need to take a lesson from the ride ops at DBH, which have a WAY better coaster, IMO.

Busch Gardens has a good safety record, but they also have a good capacity and maintenance record. Looks like they threw those 2 out the window with Gwazi.

...the gospel according to Matt....couldn't agree more, except for one thing...(I always make sure my seatbelt is LOOSE, laps are way safer anyway). Also, they'll never "take a lesson" from DBH, visual inspection I am sure isn't coming to any Busch parks...

As mentioned, the laps really are more than sufficient for safety, and there is NO air on Tiger, only a little on Lion. Until I get to the Panhandle to check out the John Allen, DBH is the only "good wood" around the Sunshine State...can't wait to get back to Lauderdale!

The only thing bad about the visual inspection at the DBH is last time I was there, the girls in front of us were trying to stand up the whole time. It's people like them that will turn the DBH into Tiger before too long!
