I'd be homicidal, not sure what would stop me...to tell the truth.

I agree preverts that look at and tape kids and molest them should pay with nothing less then Death, I just want the cops to make sure it's proven before then started givng the person their sentence.
But it is nice to know that the government is protecting its privacy and security, average citizens are having both threatened at the same time.
Granted, I don't have kids and I don't think it's okay to exploit kids sexually, but why are we so quick to want to blame, demonize, and punish other people rather than trying to help them? Is the assumption that people are unable to repent?
Everyone makes their own mistakes and everyone needs to be forgiven.

It has been proven in many studies (here is one report) that pedophilia has an unusually high percentage of recidivism, despite behavoral treatment and analysis.

Whatever happened to the concepts of repentance and foregiveness
I'm going to try that line on my next speeding ticket. ;)
There a whiny feelgood saying that goes something like, "That's why pencils have erasers" to which I like to reply, "I always use a pen." :)
I guess I'm more of the "You screw up, you pay" mindset.

I don't doubt that for a second, which is why I think better treatment rather than locking someone up is the correct solution.
Building more jails certainly hasn't solved our other crime problems...

The fact is that we don't live in the same country as the Cleavers did, and PARENTS are the first best line of defense against predatory adults....
It's the most basic, hardwired, ingrained instinct we have to protect our young. Pop out an youngun and it will all make sense. Very quickly.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.
My views were made pretty clear here.
I'm all for the "eye for an eye" punishment system (for all things) - kill someone, get killed; rape someone, get raped; steal something, have equivalent value taken from you.
Barabaric, but effective.
I believe a person can not simply be evil. It's possible that pedos are mentally ill. They deserve help; some kind of cure, not death, imho.
Of course I would want to kill a person who did something like this to any kid I know, but then I would be no better than the kidraper. Two wrongs...
It's one thing if you or I are filming at the park and by the nature of that filming capture images of underage children in the shot.
Its a whole different thing when a man who was essentially warned last year for questionable video taking and who is known to have child porn on his PC is at the park filming close-ups of a 15 year old's crotch.
You really wouldn't have a problem with your children being filmed under the latter circumstances?
On looking at the whole story, I can't complain too much about this particular case. But Rescue131 has an excellent point. That's all about a place where I really don't want to see our society go. Let me tell you a story: I was leaving Playland (Vancouver, BC, CA) when I was stopped by the park security detail. My offense? I'd been taking photographs of kid rides. My response: There were kids on those rides?! :) Well, yes, there were, but I don't think there was any problem with my photo. Here, see for yourself. I don't think even Lord Gonchar would have any problem with that photo.
There is no place in our civil society for pedophiles. That's a decision that our community has made; as a group we have decided that it's unacceptable. But at the same time, we have to be careful not to assume the worst of just anybody. Look at westcoaster_man's story in this thread. He didn't deserve the kind of treatment he got, and that level of paranoia is well beyond necessary or appropriate.

To ease the situation, I'm lucky enough to have kids, so I often take my shots when they're on the ride. But people do immediately assume the worst when you pull out a camera and start taking pics in either of those situations - especially if you're just wandering the park alone. (which I do at times)
I even agree that it's a very fine line to walk with the whole siutation in general, but when a guy got warned about it before, was found to have underage porn on his PC and then gets caught again filming a young girl and review of the tape shows (and I quote), "The video zoomed into different areas of the girl's body" - then how much leeway do you give?
I mean, does anyone really think the approach taken with this guy was out of line? If so, then...just ewwwww!
