Great Escape seeks approval of "Runaway Train".

You know, Six Flags does have SFAW's old Excaliber mine train in storage as well... that was supposed to be one of the best mine trains ever built, and would probably make enthusiasts happier than Opryland's old coaster.

The Excalibur was still sitting in storage at Frontier City. Last year FC constructed a new storage facility west of the park. Last I looked Excalibur was still sitting there.

Also the old storage area north of the parking lot has been cleaned up from the old ride debris (graveyard) and some clearing had begun - but I would guess it would be for a parking lot expansion, if anything.

DawgByteII, Rock-N-Roller Coaster was such a great mine train because it was different than all the others. It was made to glide high and not close to the ground, and with tree, it seem like your leveled out, but then swoosh, you take the ride's largest drop into the second half of the ride which consists of a mild, but still intense helix course, yet many thought it was way too slow. Still, you must remeber, this is a family-geared coaster.

Question, will it still have the dual lift hill? That made the ride fun for first time riders, for it was unexpected.

I don't think that FC has any intentions of rebuilding Excaliber (or adding any new coaster, for that matter), that is why I suggested that it may be destined for TGE. Word has it that it had some great drops, unlike other mine train coasters.

Knowing Six Flags, it depends on which mine train is in the best condition- can you blame them?

Well, since there are pictures already posted on RCDB, and the color of the original coaster was black... which one of those two mine-train coasters was black in color?

Rock & Roller Coaster, or Excalibur?

I am planning on going to Frontier City this weekend. I'll ride the Ferris Wheel and see if the Excalibur track is still in the storage yard. If the track is gone or has reduced down in size - we might have found the coaster.

It's definitely NOT Excalibur.

There is also a small mine train coaster sitting in SFEG's employee parking lot. It's been there for a few years but I have no idea about its condition.

Last I saw pictures of Excalibur rotting in a field near Frontier City. Unfortunately, they did a horrible job dismantling this ride and butchered it so badly there's little hope it can ever be re-assembled. This is why Frontier City never erected it. Very sad, this was a terrific mine train (and quite a bit better than the SLC Astroworld got to replace it).
That's what I heard, and why I was hopeful that it would make it to TGE. Too bad to hear about its condition... I thought that the coaster was dismantled with the intention to reassemble it.

2000 ft. seems really short for two lifts.

Has anyone ever actually ridden this ride?

Are there any pictures of it when it was running?
