Great America's new skyline

And when is V2 starting? I mean, the construction,, I drive by there all the time, and now Deja Vu is almost there,, but really, have others seen this?? this ride doesnt look that big? I mean, I wanna ride it, but lookin at the pic from SFGA,, it looks like a carnival ride.. I dont know why,, but.. I cant wait to ride that,, and most, V2..
I will miss Sky Whirl - it was unique, relaxing, and enjoyable.

I like observation towers and unfortunately the four times I've been to Great America, Sky Trek Tower was closed. Hope to get on it this year.

BTW, driving north on 94 from Chicago is the best way to view Great America's skyline. Will be interesting to see Deja Vu and V2 in the mix.

Deva Vu looks big to me 105 foot loop, 110 ft cobra roll.

With the way some of you talk about SKY WHIRL, you should be completly ashamed of yourselves. SKY WHIRL was a great ride, not to mention how unique it was, and now there aren't any left.... SFGA will not be the same with out it, it was a classic, icon-type ride that will be missed by many.

Rest In Peace, SKY WHIRL...
GEICU you posted a picture of SFOG's Deja Vu not the SFGAM one. But I'm sure that you knew that.

BMCOASTER

I don't really miss Sky Whirl. I would have rather kept it in the park, but if we need to get rid of it to get another coaster, so be it. I don't think I ever went on that ride and I never even thought about it. I can understand why people are sad it is gone, because it had brought back memories from a long time ago, but as generations move on and parts deteriorate, I think it was the right thing to do.

Wow, once again I respond. I know, before I did overreact about SFMM (now I'm mentioning what I don't want mentioned!), sfmmman2001. Although, as I see in your username, your just trying defend your park, so maybe I really shouldn't say sorry for overreacting. Although I will anyways... now, blah blah blah. I just keep going on and on.

SFGA2001, I'm glad you don't miss it! It was old, outdated, boring, and you didn't even get that great of a view! And people say there is this thing, a breeze, i think... What is that? Every time I was on it, the day was hot, still, and humid. Talk about tourcher... So, I'm glad it's gone!

Deja Vu & V2. Can life get any better?
I dont know about u guys
but I love pulling into the lot and right as you make the turn you get that awesome view of shockwave. It's so cool cause it looks so differnt from the highway. I have always loved that. Sorry but we were talkin about the skyline and thats one of my favrite parts.

TrBiggar, just to set the record straight, I hate magic mountain as a whole. There coasters are cool. Thats about it. Knotts Berry Farm is my fav park. Maybe I should change my name.

It was a unique ride....mechanically, ridewise, and for it's ability to inspire nausea! When I ran it way back when, half the job seemed to be shoveling pixie dust into "messy" cabins. It's all good though, it was a great looking ride. As far as relaxation, I prefer the skyride or train...And for all of you who think it's time wasted, wait 'till you're my age!

Ah, thats cool. From what I've seen from MM the park doesn't impress me, only some of the coasters.

bhilk, what your talking about does have to do with the skyline, a lot! It's just part of it that didn't change, thats all.

Deja Vu & V2. Can life get any better?
Amen. Bhilk is right on. Shockwave is very impressive when entering. Anyway, I never really did ride it but once(Sky Whirl), but I do think that the ride needed to move for Deja Vu. However, since it is an original park ride it should have just been relocated. They should put it where that go kart track is. Everyone has done go karts, they are just taking up space at SFGam. *** This post was edited by Shockwave Rules - SFGAm on 3/26/2001. ***
Does Giant Drop count?
It's like 220 ft right?
That would make it the tallest thrill ride, correct?
If we're counting rides over 150 feet, we're up to 6 with the inclusion of Giant Drop and American Eagle.
