Great America's Deja Vu will finally open Saturday

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

With only a few weeks left in the season, Six Flags Great America's second new coaster, Deja Vu will finally open. It is one of the three giant inverted boomerangs built by Vekoma for Six Flags. The other two reside at Six Flags Magic Mountain and Six Flags Over Georgia.

Finally.  I will be there the last day of Fright Fest to finally ride it!
Question is, how long will the lines be and how often will it break down?

I've ridden the one in So cali, I'd say wait till next year, it's nothing to write home about...
Why me, I don't understand your point. If you live near Great America and have been waiting all season for it to open, wouldn't you go and ride it?

till saturday early morning

I was one of the lucky folks to be part of the Media event today. I must say for those that have not been on it yet, GET OUT THERE AND RIDE IT! It is so AWSOME. The ride is very smooth, and a lot of fun.

Tejott - Would love to help you out, but my plans for this weekend just went down the drain. :(

Brian - How did you get to participate?

Chris,

I took it upon myself to call the park and talk to the Public Relations department asking about the event. I told them I was with ACE, and wondered if it would be possible to be part of the media event.

After a few days of wating, I heard back from them, with the news that I was allowed to go.

I did find out at the event that the ACE Regional Rep did make some phone calls himself asking ACE Members if they wanted to be a part of media day.

My guess is that SFGAm wanted X number of ACE people at the event, and told the regional rep to get them. Since I was allowed to go, I'm guessing that how ever many that was, they either did not get that number of ACE members, or I just got lucky. Again, that is a guess on my part, since I don't know how many ACE members were actually asked, how many showed up, etc.

In any case, I am very happy that I was allowed to be a part of such an exciting event. This is one great coaster, and I'm glad to live very close to it. If you have the chance to get out to SFGAm during the month of October (closing day is Sunday, October 28th) I highly suggest you ride Deja Vu.

In case anyone was wondering, I was able to get in 22 rides on Deja Vu today. I know of one ACE member that got in 26. The Media event was between the hours of 5 AM and 11:30 AM.

Is there a Fastlane... err... lane in the queue? And are there any expectations to allow the Fastlane on Deja Vu?

What a way to end the coaster season :)

It's great that after all of the negative news with the deaths on coasters this year that all the giant inverted boomerangs opened after being delayed most of the year.

GenuineCynic,

According to the people I talked to, they said that FastLane will not be used this season on Deja Vu. But, they did build the queue line to use it next year.

So, expect long waits for this one. But, the wait for the ride is well worth it.
