Great Adventure Train

I believe so. Most parks bought only a single 24 inch gauge train from Crown, Hersheypark being one of the few exceptions. Kings Island bought two of the 36" gauge, there were two at Carowinds, and Kings Dominion (which are no longer there), plus Busch owns the greatest number of the Crown 36" trains. SFMM just recently sold their Crown, which has been in storage for over twenty-five years.
I'm sure the fact that the park only had one train helped to kill the attraction. It was obviously a low-capacity ride. Of course, they could have purchased a second train...

To those who feel that "Magic" Mountain lost a lot of its original Magic....yes, GAdv once had a TON of charm too. Unfortunately, I was about 8 years old when we left Jersey, and didn't know then that I was supposed to be *keeping track* of the rides and such....LOL! :)

bill, wishes he KNEW what rides and coasters he rode from the old days of GAdv, way before SF came into the picture. That was so long ago, there was a park called "Adventure World" in MD and another park simply called "Kings Dominion" in VA...time HAVE changed, in many ways for the better, but in some ways not so much...

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Actually if the SFGRADV train closed in 82 then there was no Adventure world at the time...you're thinking of the old Wild World days when just by chance the park first opened that same year.

If I'm not mistaken PKD's train is now at BGT.Those were the good old days of the park long before the giant piece of firewood known as Hurler made it's debut on the site of what once was the boarding station for the Old Dominion lline.

The Great Adventure Railroad actually operated from 1974 thru the end of the 1980 season. It was removed during the winter of 1980-1981 to make way for Roaring Rapids (Congo Rapids now) as the tracks use to pass through that area. The station was located approximately were the waterfall infront of Skull Mountain is currently.

The ride actually featured two trains - one yellow and blue and one red and blue.

25+ Years with a GA Pass
Thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impresion that they ran only one, like most other parks. Should have known better, Warner LeRoy seemed to do his homework.
