Goliath Hatred...

I've heard good things as well as bad things about Goliath (SFMM). I was just wondering if anyone out there absolutely hates it...

Also, anyone who has ridden both Nitro and Goliath, and prefers Goliath...

I thought it was pretty cool. The second hill air is great. It looks neat too (landscaping stinks though). I would have absolutely loved it if I hadn't ridden Millenium Force a couple weeks earlier.

No!

Why is this against the TOS?

He is just asking for opinions about it. Isn't that what the entire CB Community is about?

I'll get to try out Goliath this summer, and I have high expectations for it. I hold hyper-twisters in higer regards than the normal out 'n backs. I'm really looking forward to riding it. :)

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Besides being fairly short compared to most Hypers I found nothing at all to complain about. The drop and tunnell combo is killer, the third "air" hill is great and the Helix is insane. To top that the transitions are wonderfull and it runs as smooth as glass, I don't know why anyone would complain.

It isn't so bad. . .
Once you're used to it

Well if i made a topic asking who prefers Cedar point over SFMM you bet your ass it would be closed! whats the difference?

Geeze who cares if he uses the word hate. You don't have to follow the tos exactly, if everyone did we would never have any interesting, colorful disscussions and debates. My friend hates goliath he says the helix always makes him black out. I personally like the helix. It all depends what kind of coaster rider you are. Do you like intense g's or do they make you sick. Don't take our word for it. Ride it and decide for yourself.
I rode Goliath 8 times a couple of weeks agon and i thought the ride was great!!!! The initial drop was great and the ride was very intense with pops of air time so their is nothing not to love about this ride!!!
I have been on both Nitro and Goliath and I prefer Goliath anyday hands down. It has such powerful forces compared to the almost to comfortable Nitro- I coulda slept on it! Don't get me wrong Nitro is very cool but as far as excitement and intensity it is all Goliath.

I loved it. The lines moved fast, the trains moved fast, it's smooth, it's intense, it has a tunnel at the bottom of the first drop, did I mention that it was fast?

Has anyone ever noticed all of the trash in the pit below the helix? It looks like a land fill reserved for plastic bottles.

Because that subject has been hammered to death. I don't think there has *ever* been a thread regarding Cedar Point in which SFMM wasn't dragged into it at least once. It's tired and boring, and most people are hip to the fact that's it's done for dramatic effect and nothing more.

Anyway, I know quite a few people who hate Goliath, most of them locals who long for something Intamin. I'm not one of them. I have never ridden Goliath looking for Intamin or B&M, and you can tell from the queue what type of ride it is, so I have never understood why people board the ride looking for something that isn't there and was never intended to be there.

Goliath is a smooth, g-monster. Although it's not near the top of my favorites list, it's a blast.

Goliath is waaay smoother than Any B&M or even Intamin I've ridden. The first drop is really weak, and I don't know what airtime you're talking about. The helix and everything else were pretty intense. I give it an 8 out of 10. Not something I like.
Who said anything about "airtime"? There is one "air" hill.

Speedy, how could you miss Goliath's airtime hill?!? You get lifter out of your seat for just about 3 full seconds!

No Goliath hate here, it was my #1 hyper, until I rode Phantom's Revenge. (and it's even SHORTER track length than big G)

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

I can't put my finger on it, but I just don't really like Goliath that much. Out of all hypers I have been on (PR, MF, Magnum) this one is my least favorite.

Now that I think about it (and I feel this weakens MF as well), Goliath has too many turns and not enough hills. Goliath is about intensity, and that can be created by placing helixes and turns at low heights.

If there is anything that I think drags Goliath down, the above is it. I do think the ride is very good, and nicely designed, but out of all hypers I have been on, its just not as good.

Ok....

I have been on S:ROS at SFNE and SFDL, Raging Bull, Apollo, Nitro, Mamba, Phantoms Revenge, MF, Magnum, Steel Force and Goliath. Of all these hypers it is my least favorite (this or Steel Force of them all)...and hey, its just my opinion. Yes, Goliath is very smooth which is real good...also the positive Gs in the helix ending are crazy! Other than that there is really nothing I like on this ride. During the ERT on at at the Con, I was bored...so I stayed on my favorite ride at SFMM (Riddlers Revenge...no i havent been on X) and enjoyed every ride.

This is why i dont like it. A. The trains, I dunno they seem really crummy compared to the Intamin and B&M hyper trains...although I do like them better than Arrow or Morgans. B. The 1st Drop is so incredibly weak for how big the ride is...even in the back you only get a little float and then just ride a huge ramp to the bottom. C. 2nd hill/turn over Colossus....the 1st part of the ride seems to be a close copy of Raging Bull only a lot less fun for me. This turn is much higher and slower once it reaches the top. I also dont like how it isnt banked..on RB i can hang out the side and actually look underneath the train on this turn...the drop out of this turn in the back on Goliath is pretty cool however. D. 3rd hill....yes, it has a long amount of sustained floating air that doesnt really do it for me..its just a long floater while not realy changing in elevation (3rd hill is seems to be too stretched out..maybe if it was 2 intamin hills...). E. Block brake killing the speed...the ending is real intense even with this stop, but why design a ride only to stop it like that? F. SHORTNESS...this hyper seems so short to me, that combined with its lack of air hills and a steep drop make this ride just not that good to me, just ok.

So theres what i think of the ride and why i dont like it. If you like it...thats great for you...but i dont so dont tell me its great.

There are alot of things against Golaith. 1st off is the fact that hypercoasters were built for huge, airtime filled hills- Golaith has 1 (2 on the drop if your in back). Another reason is the centrifuge, most people find it unconfortable and I don't blame them. Although I don't hate the ride, I do certainly think its of of the weaker hypers out there as far as airtime and duration are concerned. I'd say Goliath is comprable with MF, though no where close to B&M or Intamin hypers. Instead of hitting the brakes at 30 mph, they could have thrown in a few more bunny hops (god knows they had PLENTY of open space right there).

Soggy, I know the 1 airtime hill you're talking about, but I prefer ejection air to barely floating airtime. It only lasted about 1.5 seconds too. Ghostrider has about 6 points of air better than Goliath's only airtime Hill. I guess I'm spoiled by Xcelerator (best air ever, except you're stapled) and Perilous Plunge, whose drop is better than ANY coaster drop I've been on.

See? Now you see why folks complain about MF and Dragster. "Where's my whole buncha hilly hills? I want my bunny hops!"
