Going Alone!!!!!!!

Im only 15 so my only chance of going to anytheme park is by going with my parents or with friends. Neither understand how important it is to get to the park early! Plus we always leave the park at like 7! I can't wait tell I can go by myself where I can get to the park at 10 and leave the park at 10! Anyone agree?

I totally agree! I love entering my home park (SFDL) as soon as it opens and leaving when it closes. Going alone also means you can go on whatever you want, whenever you want, period. Sometimes it's nice to go with someone else, as long as they'll stay the whole day with you. ;)

I would disagree with part of that. Going alone just isn't as fun as going with friends. I would honestly rather go late and leave early with my friends, than go alone and stay all day. The interaction with other people is what makes coasters truely fun. Of course, if you want the best of both worlds, find another enthusiast to go with you. :)

I've only gone to a park by myself once, and it wasn't nearly as much fun as going with friends or family.   I would never trade having someone to goof around with for the ability to do what I want when I want.
I agree with Compressed Airhead,

I have gone alone to (Sfgadv) at least 4 times this year and, It is very boring standing in the queues by yourself. I have kids so, when my husband is home I take advantage of some time to myself by going to the park but, Like I said, even though I enjoy the coasters, It isn't as much fun as when you go with friends or other enthusiasts.

I love going with family and being on rides with family but at my home park SF Great Adventures, theres and outlet center like 2 miles down which we spend at like and hour and no one buys anything! If my family left at 9 atleast so we can get a couple of front car rides you know it would be much more fun. Being dragged on the log flume and into bugs bunnyland isn't why I got a season pass. Also when I go with family and friends, we have to go on weekends like Satudays!!!!!!

I like having someone with me, makes it more fun.

My family (mostly mom and dad) understand how much I love parks, so they usually let me stay late. We were supposed to leave Kennywood at around 7, ended up leaving when the park closed because my mom couldn't get enough of the wooden coasters.

I did kinda plan on her being addicted to them.;)

And if you want the best of ALL THREE WORLDS, find a fine looking female enthusiast to go with you!  :-)

Amen, Davie. If I find someone like that, they're some serious marriage material. ;)

To: Davie, Compressed Airhead- they are HARD to find, but once you've got a woman that enjoys coasting half as much as we do, you've gotta hang on to them.  It is much more fun than going alone, but I still go by myself to BGT or Wild Adventures occasionally - Jill usually is finished after 6-8 hours, but she IS an exceptionally good sport, so I use "sick" days to ride until I drop.

I hate going to the parks alone.  Coasters need to be shared (the point of this website), so we can compare, and recall the rides together.  They are like movies, bands, etc.  Yes, there are people that like to be by themselves, and that is fine for them, but I think most like to experience parks with others, and take those memories with them.  Nitro230ft...don't worry about things.  Part of the problem is you are 15.   Things get better when you are out of school, and on your own.   Looking back on it, you won't mind it so much, I think.  Enjoy your youth.  I miss it, and I am only 34!

I think that going to parks alone is cool. You can do whatever you want, you can be spontaneous, you don't have to ask other people what they want to do or where they want to eat, you can power ride if you want to, you can strike up conversations with people in line and made some new friends, You can jusmp to the front of the line if there is another lone rider (at least at Cedar Point). You are your own boss.

I did this the last time I was at Cedar Point and I loved it.

many of you guys are mostlikley Nitro needs to relize that having family there is fun,But you have to understand that we all don't have the same family. My family is great but their all chickens so when ever I ride most coasters it's just me! I also want to test out half the coaster around the world .... or just the U.S.. But when it's comes to going to those theme park it's not just I want to go to Six flags Magic Mountain, it's "Mom, Dad can we go to SFMM ......."NO! That's too far, or that's to expensive, or I have to work or next year."

I go with my best friend because he likes coasters also. We usually stay until about 9:30 so that's good enough for me. :)

I occasionally go alone, but I dont think I've ever spent a *whole* day alone. I *almost* did once last year @ CP, but that's when I ran into GregLeg for the first time.

I just *really* dont like being at a park solo for too long. I'm also not a real big 'power rider' (save mini-marathons on S:ROS@SFA). The reason I have such a soft spot in my heart for parks is that I used to go to them every year with my family. When I'm not with them at the parks, something seems missing and I'd rather just leave (my folks are riders too :)).

I never thought about this as a topic because I thought that I was the only one that went to parks by myself. Everyone asks me if I had a terrible time, but the case is just the opposite. I went to ride coasters and the best way to do that is to go by yourself. You can always make new friends in the line. Sometimes people in line like to talk about the old days of the park and may have a story or two to tell you also. I think it is a great way to visit a park, it may not be for everyone, but it is for me.
