as a very new member i would find it very useful having a section where someone can look for full-text-version of all the abbreviations - used especially in the forums.
maybe it's just because my mother-tongue isn't english, but as a "newbie" to this site and (in comparison to most of the users in here) some sort of new into rollercoasters, i would be very pleased by just having a place to look after those words (e.g. SLC, HSRST, etc.).
well, anyways, one of the best if not THE best site i've ever seen about this topic - and very easy to use.
I'm willing to do it, but I'll need a ton of help. Feel free to start a thread on it, or dig up an old one.

Jeff, maybe you could just set up a blank page or whatever and let members submit stuff for it. I think it would get a lot of terms fast, and it would always be getting updated, if you know what I mean. If someone didn't know something that wasn't on yet they could post a question on the general forum (or wherever such a question should go) and surely one of the 3000+ members would have an answer. The only drawback I can see, and keep in mind I don't know the details to getting this started, is the moderators would probably have to review the submissions to make sure nothing really dumb or ridiculous got on there as a joke.
This site is what the members make it, right? Just set something up and let us do the rest.
Interestingly enough, I've started to compile a list of abbreviations to add to the editorial section. If you have something to add, or know of an abbreviation, but don't know what it stands for, post it here and I'll cover it.

I would also like to see a glossary of general terms as well, not just abbreviations. I am still exactly sure what an immelman (sp?) is.

It is an inversion found on Montu and Top Gun at Carowinds (I think). Think of a half loop and then a half barrel roll out of the top of it.

That sounds like a good idea. A long time ago Coasterbuzz had something about WoA was going to get a launched coaster or something w/ a garangatan element. What is that?
Oh, and you could also include nicknames like Maggie, etc.

Also, a great idea before you get to started is to do the thing. I'm not sure what you call it, but every abbreviation can have a so say, the address to the page is:

See what I mean? It's hard to explain because I'm not super-familiar with HTML.

This is really intended for Guide to the Point but there isn't a suggestion forum there. Besides, a recent incident from here reminded me of this.
It would be nice to see a list of common amusement park (Cedar Point) lingo. Things like TL :) , Red(other color) tags, etc. I'm sure I'm not the only one left wondering when these things come up in discussion.
So whats going on with this Jeff? Are you still planing on doing it?

I'll be doing tons of catch-up work this weekend now that I'm totally unpacked and finally back to normal.
Try this:
http://www.coasterglobe.com/features/quickreference-dictionary/index.cfm May be good, don't know, just saw it listed when I went to All The Web All The Time and put in coaster dictionary. I'm going to check it out now.
