Glossary of Topics That Should Not Be Posted

After seeing what must be the millionth "Why aren't there any more Dive Machines" post earlier, I was thinking, we need a glossary of topics like that one so that people won't keep asking the same questions over and over. Topics that could be added to said glossary could be "Why aren't there any more stand-ups", "Will Park X be busy on Day Y", "Why can't we do/have _______ on these boards", and other such topics which have already been answered countless times. There could even be links to the original topics. Anyone with me on this?

Well, considering that there's new members every day, and the site keeps growing & growing, it's not like these n00bs know about the topics that are years & years old. You really can't expect a newer member to sift thru & search for something each time they want to post a thread about something that they think may be new.

You've got to give them a break somewhere. If something hasn't been brought up in a long time, what's wrong with starting a new thread about them? You get updated responses from different people.

A FEW, I can see... such as "what park is National Lampoons Vacation filmed in?"...

But that's more of a FAQ for something that doesn't really warrent a thread anyway, because it's not an open-ended question.

You know, it's not as if CPNut is logging in every week with a new ID, starting threads with some "LookaME!!" topic.

Why don't we all give newcomers a One Dopey Post Free courtesy? We'll simply respond, "Welcome to Coastbuzz!" and kindly direct them where they need to look first. Perhaps even provide them with helpful hints that are actually helpful. You know, stuff like that.

But the next post that smacks of ga-HUCK...hoooo boy.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

ga-HUCK? hoooo boy?

You scare me playa. :)

I still think that a separate forum for help with trips apart from general buzz would be good.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Because its just so much more fun to watch n00bs get roasted on their first stupid or repetitive post... I think it keeps the site chock full of people with the same midset too. If you can survive the punishment of your first post, you can survive the long haul on this site. I think its just another layer that keeps this site above the others out there (coaster and non-coaster)

Unless you got in on the ground floor before all the punishments and hazing started. Then you're just grandfathered in and we keep you around anyway. ;)
With all the rituals and hazing, I'm surprised CB hasn't adopted Greek letters yet...

Why not just put a statement on the TOS stating that new members should use the search feature before starting a new topic that has already been discussed a bunch of times?

There are only 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who dont.
If it bothers you so much, start up a Coasterbuzz FAQ that contains all the basic questions and answers.

Don't worry about it. Move on with your lives. If it's really an issue the moderators will deal with it. In the mean time, don't read what you're not interested in. It's not that hard.

I swear, if people aren't complaining we over-moderate (which is nonsense) someone is complaining we don't do it enough.

mmmmmmm, Soylent Green. :)

"Should Not BE Posted", that's up to Jeff and the mods....if they think it SHOULDN'T be here, then it WON'T...pretty simple, LOL. The thing is, new people join the site and have the same questions that brought some of US here in the very beginning...so let's TRY and be patient and helpful...think of it as doing your part for humanity (OH the humanity!)....

Myself, I still long *desperately* for a ride on the ORIGINAL Whipper Snapper...;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

The TOS already says what kind of posts to avoid anyway...and clearly no one reads that. So who's to think they'd read this glossary? Lots of people intentionally avoid anything that looks like rules...they'd rather figure it out as they go along.

I got nuked hardcore when I first came to Coasterbuzz, and I'm even cool. ;)

I say we leave 'em alone. Starting out here is like your first year in high school. No matter how smart or talented you are, chances are you're gonna get a flushie.

Well I don't post here very often since I’m not as "informed" as some of you are but in my opinion I believe that this very thread is one of the topics that should be on the list.

I mean really there are always going to be new people who ask the questions that have been answered numerous times. If you want to solve the problem I suggest making a page for every park and a general coaster question page to store answers to common questions pertaining to that park exc.
