Ghostrider

I heard that Ghostrider is closed for a yearly maintenance. Does anyone know when this great coaster will be reopened? I will be in S California next week and would love to ride this again.
You should be able to. I heard it's already open. But you should call the park to make sure.
According to Matt D (in his Ice Storm trip report), it was open in mid-January...so unless it's actually been closed between now and then...I dunno, I'd call the park.

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Yay! I'm going to be there on Thursday :)

IIRC the ride just opened for the Presidents Day holiday this week and will probably close again for another week just before Solace. But I don't have 100% confirmation on that...I agree: call the park if you're worried.
Ghostrider was running very well today - no complaints at all. The Boomerang was down, but that's no great loss. What is presidents day?

I've done my usual stupidly verbose trip report on my own site -

Richard - we used to celebrate both George Washington's birthday and Abe Lincoln's birthday as national holidays but because they are a week apart a single holiday was created. It's the second Monday of February.

I'll be there on Wednesday. It's my first time at the park, so it'd be great to have it open. I'm just expecting it to be down, though. It'll be a nice surprise if it's ready.

Dang kpjb...couldn't you wait a few weeks and come out for Solace and get some ERT?

Nah, I got a park to open. Vacations after February are rough.

I hate to rain on your parade [literally] but the weather looks bad all week here in LA and if that comes to fruition you won't be riding much at Knotts. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Yeah, I thought weather in this side of the world was supposed to be good; what gives? :)

Anyway, there's two more days of trip reports at the link in my post above, covering Sea World, Belmont, Legoland California, and a eclectic mix of good and bad at Tragic Mountain.

One of those odd years when we get a lot of rain. We had more rain this year than Seattle typically gets. We really need it...I just hope we get a reprieve for the Solace event.

/me Holds back flying to LA and kicking 'Moosh in the ass for complaining about weather while I watch the three inches of new snow in my driveway turn to slush as it rains at precisely 32 degrees.

Hopefully this all means that it'll be a [relatively] dry year this summer...or at least a dry Solace, CBuzzCon @ Dorney (is there an official name for it yet? :) ), and BeastBuzz. ;)

I'm not complaining, Jeff. We need the rain. Knowing Knott's operating procedures for rain I hope there is none during Solace or it'll be ER-not ;)

No worries... I'm just looking forward to moving away from this area in a few years. I'm so done with the weather here.

I saw them operating Silver Bullet in horrendous conditions on Thursday, so if there's ERT on that I would have thought it unlikely that it'd be cancelled.

You can forget about Xcelerator, though.

Ghostrider & Montezooma, too. Our Ghostrider ERT was cut short at Solace one year due to rain.
Inverted coasters tend to stay open in rain, they'll probably just close off the front seats, of Silver Bullet. The other coasters where riders will get hit with the rain (and the brakes ETC are more exposed) will close however...

Now if its a thunderstorm... *** Edited 2/21/2005 5:44:11 AM UTC by UdoTch***
