Gettin' High to Fly

I'll concede one point: drugs can make you more successful than you would have been otherwise. You make a good point about the presidents. Had George Dubya not gone down a seemingly dead end road, he wouldn't have gotten his life on track. He saw the effects of things like alcohol and possibly even drugs. He saw that the only way he could be successful was to give up all those things. Let me clarify something else since we've brought up alcohol. Before you think I'm some completely closed minded idealistic right wing teen, I see nothing wrong with having some wine or even a beer once in a while. The problem comes with getting overly drunk. Otherwise, wine can be pretty healthy with dinner. That said, one of my personal goals is to never touch alcohol. It's just one of those things that isn't necessary. Oh, and the deal is on... 2005 it is.

I think that is stupid, if you want to smoke, that;s special but don't do it in public, never the less in a confined space such as a waiting line.  I don"t even like it when someone is smokeing a ciggeratte next to me, I don't like to have that stuff get into my system.  And to do it in front of kids, that's wrong.

And I am all for the whole free country thing, but when it invades my freedom, and othher people's freedom, and gives children the idea that it is perfectally okay to do that, than it is wrong.  I know that if I was a parent and standing in line, I don't want my kid to see that.

I think some people are just plain rude. If you think about it, it doesn't matter what habit they have. They will still be rude. Weather it's smoking, or toking, or some guy saying the f-word every other second when a group of 11year olds are standing behind  him. They will find a way to be rude. And then you got your line cutters and the kids that draw and stick gum on everything . What ever they can use to be rude..they will.

The people that were toking in that line are rude people. They just happen to smoke pot.

I personally think E is a WONDERFUL drug IF used moderately.

2Hostyl, could NOT agree more, experience is key in allowing/forcing people to see how the "grey areas" really do tend to dominate the moral landscape.  That being said, smoking pot at an amusement park in front of kids is just plain WRONG!  For that matter, smoking cigarettes in line really is just as rude, although not illegal.  I do want to say how really pleased I am that the conversation has remained "above the table", and thank Jeff and the mods for allowing us to have this somewhat off-topic discussion...kind of grey in terms of relevance;~)!

I've heard and read that "E" will damage you permanently if used more than 4 times.
(mood disturbances, memory problems) Listen to Loveline, I'm sure if you take the time to listen to one show, you'll see all the bad side effects that "E" can do. There's so many, it's not even worth listing 'em.

No offense to any drug users, but really, what exactly is the point of using them?  You feel 'high' for a little while, but is it really worth the long-term side effects?  Now, using Marijuana for medicinal purposes is a different story, but I won't get into that at the moment.  Anyway, call me a "square":), but I prefer a natural high, such as an extreme sport, or, of course, rollercoasters.

Are we buzzer's literally just looking for a buzz? I am very surprised and shocked at how many of you don't mind this and some of you condone it! You guys can smoke all the pot you want, don't do it near me, espeically when trying to ride a rollercoaster!I'm with Compressed Airhead, it's illegal and they should leave the park in handcuffs.

I'm 14.. lets get that out of the way..

Personially, I think some small-time drugs (Canablis mainly) are not harmful to you, and have some real benefits towards them. It's a waste of time to go after these people, and I feel that if the idea that "drugs are the devil" is instilled in every kid in america we will have more of a problem.

The only problem with Pot is that you do end up getting high. Doing important things like taking tests, driving, working and such are all things that you won't do well while high.. Yet taking weed never hurt anyone who didn't have anything to do after taking it.

Well, the same could be said for extreme sports (just the example you used) - how long does the "high" really last? Is it really worth the risk of injuring yourself? My guess is that it's very comparable.
As someone who sees the hypocrisy in labeling certain drugs as "good" while others are considered "bad" I certainly don't condone the actions of idiots who smoke pot in a highly crowded, tightly packed place such as a queue for a coaster. Sadly there is always a minority in every group that ruins the image of others.

MDMA, the primary component of E, was once a prescribed drug. It was used for couples therapy (you know, those poor unfortunate souls who were having trouble with the bedroom action, and marital trouble in general). Check the facts before you start blowing off about something you obviously know nothing whatsoever about. That's what happens when you start repeating things you "HEARD"  .....RUMORS>>>> they breed and multiply like that. That's where most of the false propaganda comes from. Chill out ... Check the facts.... if you still aren't convinced about what you LEARNED . Shut up and try it.:)  You can thank me later.     :) :) :)

OK you're a SQUARE.You wanted to know what the point of getting "high"was. Try it and you'll know. :)

I havent said this "For the Record" yet so let me handle that now: I do not believe that anyone should be smoking *anything* (cigars, cigarettes, cigarillos, bidis, hashish, cannibis, crack, etc.) in an amusement park queue line.

However, if someone wants to alter their state of mind with a drug on their own time, so be it. It's funny, there is a whole outrage about herion and opium, but morphine is in every hospital in the country (all come from the poppy plant). I dont understand how a govenment thinks they have the right to limit the growth and consumption of a natural plant (next will we have a ban on sunflowers?).

And "getting high" is not for everyone. I personally cannot understand why people like Garth Brook's music, or why they think 'Seinfeld' is funny or why they think Uma Thurmann is so beautiful. But I dont *have* to understand. I just need to know, to each her own.

If the joint comes your way, just say "Nah, I'm cool" and move on :) (and that's 'One to Grow On' (TM))
