Geauga / Superman

hi guys

My mate & i will be leaving the winter of australia next week to begin our trip to the states.First stop IOA woohoo, can't wait ....anyhow my question is

We will be in ohio for 9 days and i have pencilled in cedar pt 4days (i have been once 1998 my mate never) king island 1.5 days, kennywood 1 day & geauga lake 1 day

We will have 6f & CP season tix and realise the geauga situation.

Now who thinks Superman at sfdl is worth the drive up to buffalo? or should we spend an extra day at geauga lake??I dont want to miss it if its THAT good.Geauga also looks big ,is 1 day enough.

i am particualrly interested in those who have been to Ohios parks & Darien lake.

can you end posts with either Geauga or Darien ,i will count the scores just b4 we leave in 9 days!

Thank You & Can't wait to hit dem coasters

One day at GL should be plenty. I have only been there once this year, but from what I see, it hasn't been that busy.

GL is my home park and I love it, but it really isn't more than a 1 day park anymore. If they had the animals and all that it could easily be a 2 day park.

The excpetion is if it is really hot and humid like it can be in Ohio during the summer you could spend a second say just at the waterpark. They do have a nice waterpark.

I say spend the extra day at Geauga Lake... even if they aren't Worlds of Adventure anymore... there's still lots to do there.

Superman is definately not worth the trip up there. The coaster was good for what it was back in 1999, but now, it has really lost a lot because of the newer quality out there. The looong straight track, the 2nd helix which is a duplicate of the first... it's just not packing a punch anymore. It's still fun, but not worth the 3hr trip up, especially if you consider also what the rest of the park has to offer.

Take the 2nd day & use it at Geauga Lake. Much more to do there (waterpark, coasters, flats, shows & attractions) & much more fun overall...

I will be the first one to disagree... both CP and GL are my home park(s) as I am smack dab in the middle of both. Darrien Lake is nice, and not that far away. Not only that, you have Niagara Falls (Marine Land and Martins Fantasy Island) right there as well.

Then if you ar in to Buffalo Wings (Hot Wings), the Anchor Bar in downtown Buffalo is not to be missed. That is the location where the "Buffalo Wing" was invented. Small place, but nice.

Thanks Captain Obvious ;)

But if you're going to SFDL for 1 day... you're not going to have time to sight-see. Marty's Fantasy Island is another day-trip altogether. Niagara Falls is still a good hour away (more for the Canadian side) & downtown Buffalo... still a ways off from Darien Lake which is in the sticks.

Darien Lake is still in the Buffalo burbs. SROS is a great ride. GL definitely doesn't rate more than one day. Actually, 4 days seems excessive even for Cedar Point.
As Jim said 4 days at the Point seems excessive. I'd take one of those days and use it at GL, then you can still spend your extra day at SFDL. Just my $.02 (USD) *** Edited 7/12/2004 8:31:53 PM UTC by Downhill Screamer***

If you go to Darien Lake, you can stop at Waldameer and jet up to Martin's Fantasy Island if you so desire. Superman alone isn't worth it, I don't think. My frustration with that park the two or three times I've been there is ride closures.

There's not even a question there...Don't go to Geauga lake...i mean yes i have a season pass to go there, and yes i have been there a few times alreay but honestly it gets boring after a while...last time i went we rode "dominator" 6 times and it got so old we were just having normal conversations on the ride....we even went to the water park for 4hours and still after a while when we came back to ride more rides we really didnt want to...but anyway...heres how to look at it....

1. Gueaga lake: Short lines, okay rides, not busy, not that many big roller coasters, all steal coasters go up--side down, very bumpy rides.

2. Darien Lake: Longer lines, better rides, kida busy, bigger roller coasters, smoother rides.

I don't know I don't agree with X-treme. Geauga is my homepark. Don't spend two days there but I wouldn't go on to say that they have 'very bumpy rides'. I think the 'all steal coasters go up-side down' is enough to disregard that. Yes SFDL has longer lines, but the rides aren't better IMO. Look at the two parks, they were both Premier and got the standard boomerang and SLC. SFDL's woodie isn't that good so that only leaves Viper and S:RoS. I would say they are better than most coasters at GL, but I wouldn't say they are 'bigger and that much better'. GL has Dominator, X-Flight, Steel Venom and a good handful of woodies. All in all - SFDL is not worth the trip just for S:RoS.
I agree about the overkill for CP at 4 days. I went there for two days at the end of May and the two days were enough to almost ride everything twice, except for TTD. That is when it broke until after the July 4th holiday.

I haven't been to any of the other parks that I know of. But, if you are coming all the way across the world to spend time in the US, I would try to go to as many parks and do as many things possible.

So, if you cut your trip to CP down to just two days, you'd have plenty of time to go up to Buffalo or other places in the area.

Rooboy...2 days at CP should be enough unless you are going to spend time in the water park. Even then it still might be enough. I'd definitely go to GL since it's so close by. One day will be plenty there. Enjoy Big Dipper! I adore that out and backer. Though I've never been to SFDL, I would say go for it! Have fun.

How about this idea: with 4 days at CP [which I, too, feel is overkil] why not keep your itinerary fluid? It just may happen that after two days at CP you feel you've had your fill of the park and that frees up two days to visit other parks in the area.
Wow, I cant belive this, just cant. I spell one freakin word wrong and you all go balistic and give me links to the TOS. This is his first post, mine, I got just under 10links to the TOS.

Dude, you speak English so we expect you to get it right. RooBoy is from Australia...he speaks Australian! Give him a break.

SHEESH! ;)

Like others have said, 4 days at CP may b overkill. 2 days should be more then enough, unless you hitting the waterpark. GL, one day is all you need. Now if you realy want to top off your trip to the northern states, I would suggest hitting Hershey Park, in Hershey, PA, or Six Flags Great America. At the cost of a few extra hours of driving time, you can enjoy a much better park then SFDL.

If you realy got time to spare, you can hit some of the smaller parks such as Waldameer and Idlewild. Since you have a Six Flags season pass, Wyandot lake, not far off your route between PKI and CP/GL. All tho Wyandot Lake is mostly a waterpark with one coaster and a few flats.

He has a few short hand words out of a long post and a valid topic.. You have stuff like a one word topic called "moderiters". What do you expect?

Either way, other than shorthand, I don't see a legitimate typo in Rooboy's post.

Besides, justcuzisaidso, you're quite rude to people for no reason, and most of your posts are non-sense.
I second HersheyPark! I am finding it lately to be on my short list of top parks.

I also like the idea of visiting Niagra Falls. It sounds like a nice break from all of the crazy coasters. What about spending half a day at SFDL for Superman, and the other half at the falls?

I haven't been to SFDL because they don't seem to offer much. It's only a 4 hour drive from my home in PA, and I been everywhere else within even a 6 hour drive. I guess that means that unless you want to see the falls, my vote is no for DL.

On the other hand, I agree that GL is not a 2 day park. So my vote is no for a 2 day stay at GL.

Maybe my vote shouldn't count.

Good lord, the poor blokes head must be spinning if he has read all these posts. I am gonna throw another monkey wrench in top the mix. Kennywood is 2 hours from Geuaga Lake and a great park. I am really surprised that name didnt come up yet. Not to mention that Kennywood, Waldamere and Coneaut Lake can all be done (and very affordably) in one day.
