Gadv '06 Wooden using Viper's station?

Viper for the same name? sounds kinda Six Flagsish. But even the GP would thing thats a little odd. How about Cobra or Rattler. There both desert animals, or even Tarantula (<---Spelling?) or Scorpian would work.

Why not "Jersey Devil"? That has been a rumor for a while now.

Give Viper 3 years and it will achieve DrachenFire status. :)

Nah. Windjammer never acheived DF status, I can't see Viper making it, either. Personally, I believe that people's current perception of Drachen Fire as having been a decent coaster is because there are some who actually loved it. Hell, it was my #1 for a few years, believe it or not. It was a monster steelie with quite a few one-of-a-kind elements. And while Viper is certainly among the "unique", I'd be surprised if anyone actually raved about it after taking a lap.

Count me as one of the ones who did like it, though. I'm not gonna miss it terribly, but not a single thing about it ever bothered me.

They will almost certainly go with a new name to avoid confusion in marketing.

Ha! That's a good one.;) I think if they keep the name "Viper" it will be to make the marketing easier. How many "Vipers" are there now? Not to mention GASMs and all the super heroes. I hate that SF has the same name for multiple rides but its gotta be a breeze for merchandise purposes.
Count me in for those wishing they would have gotten a ride on Viper(the one that's gone not the woody or the Arrow multi looper or the....), it looked unique to me.

I rode viper once last year and actually liked it. I didnt put that wierd harness all the way down though and I knew how to ride it too. Maybe thats why it didnt hurt as much.

I wont miss it though. THey definately are using the station again because the station and the cue are still standing.

^

Because it's still standing and they haven't gotten around to tearing it down yet... that means it's definitely being used for the new one? Ok. Sure.

the fact that they carefully took the track out of the station and bulldozed the rest of the rde down tells you it will be used for something. IF you have seen it you would know.

Why take the rest of the rde down and keep the station for last. Why not bull doze it down like the rest of the ride.

This is hardly a rare occurance. PKI's Vortex uses Bat's station; SFMM's Psyclone uses the station that once housed Sarajevo Bobsleds *and* Shockwave. I'm sure there are lots of other examples.
How about examples of a coaster station used for another, non-coaster related purpose? Like the former Ravine Flyer station/picnic shelter at Waldameer.

Or Drachen Fire's station, which is used for...well, I have no idea. It is still there, though, isn't it?
The Viper's station is probably the nicest coaster station ever built at a Six Flags park... they should definitely reuse it.
I saw it myself earlier this week and thought they'd be re-using it for the woodie...hoping (with the architectural style of the building) the coaster will be named "El Diablo". :)

Vater...DF's station is still there. You can see it by riding the train. There's also a cool sign that tells how the steel from DF was recycled. I was torn, being an environmentalist AND an enthusiast...;)

For those of you regretting never having ridden Viper, just go to Vegas and ride Manhattan Express. The twist-n-dive is a unique element, and LOADS of fun. The shame is that *all the rest* of those two Togos consists of virtually unridable headbanging... :(

^ My ride on Manhattan Express in March was quite smooth actually. That element felt awesome, and the rest of the ride provided some nice views of Vegas. I went on expecting the worst, and came off quite happily surprised.
Gator...where along the route is it? I rode the train and didn't notice where either the station or the sign was talking about the recycled steel...what did the sign say?

BigJim...that sign was attached to the fence near DF's station. Said something along the lines of "We're so committed to preserving the environment that we recycled all the steel from this massive coaster"...or something like that.

I saw this sign.....mmmmm, circa 2002. MIGHT even have a pic of it somewhere, I was just a budding geeky shutterbug at the time...;)

RCC...I heard reliable sources indicate that ME had gotten somewhat better following the offseason rehab last winter...friends that rode during the Solace trip still looked pretty beaten when they got off the ride (of course, that could've been from the *abusive* pricing, LOL)...;)

bill, liked Viper when I first rode about 10 years' ago, but I was WAY smaller then...last time I felt like I got a sharp KICK to the side of the throat during one of those blasted UNBANKED turns...but my buddy Mikey got his credit lap, so all was good...LOL! ;)
