forum navigation

This isn't a suggestion, but I didn't see a forum for site questions.

Does anyone know why for the last week or so I cannot move around the forum by using my browser's "back" button? I have to click on the "Forums => ..." links. Previously, I would run into a problem like this once in a while, but now it's constant.

Try double clicking!!

No idea. The forum code hasn't changed in almost four years.

In the past few days, I've had to hit the back button two or three times to get back to the previous page. However, that is only in IE7. Hasn't been a problem in Firefox.

I think something is wrong with your ads, Jeff. I tried navigating in IE 7 (don't normally use the browser), and had the same result. If I go into a topic in the forum, and then click the back button, the status bar says it's trying to load something from Tribal Fusion, but then nothing happens. Press the back button again, same result. Third time usually works.

I'd blame IE 7. Always.

The solution would be to simply use Firefox or any of the other browsers out there that aren't made by Microsoft.

I think PhantomTails is on the right track. I haven't seen anything unusual in the status bar, but: I don't normally have my speakers turned on unless I'm listening to something. Tonight I had them on while browsing this site, and every time I click onto anything I hear two or three clicks as if something is trying to redirect me.

Also, if anyone can make sense of this, when entering the forums for the first time per session I used to get one pop-up caught by my pop-up blocker (the one built into IE7) and one that wasn't caught. Since the trouble started, either both of them get caught or most recently nothing even triggers the pop-up blocker message, they just don't appear. (I think they're trying to load though because I can hear clicking.)

I wish I'd seen this thread sooner. I've had this issue for years. If I've entered a thread, I can usually hit the back button once, but after that it never backs me out further. This happens ONLY on this site. I'm a club member so I don't get ads, and this happens with both IE6 and IE7, and have tried it on several different PCs (I have a desktop and two laptops).

The workaround is clicking on the dropdown menu for the Back button and manually selecting the page I want to navigate to. Or, I just found that I can repeatedly click the back button as fast as physically possible, and sometimes it will back me out to the main page (or beyond). Obviously workaround #1 is better, but I still find it annoying (and baffling) that this is the only site with this issue.

All I can say is to hang in there. Eventually it'll all be replaced with the new version, which is currently running (and evolving) on www.pointbuzz.com/forums/ .

I use IE at home, I have the same problem. I use Firefox at work, and don't have any issues there. It's an IE thing.

...not that I ever check the site from work, of course.
