Coaster enthusiasts knew it was coming. Nagashima Spaland in Japan will open its newest attraction, Steel Dragon, a 318-foot tall roller coaster. The party isn't over yet, as Cedar Point says they'll keep calling Millennium Force the tallest until a third party can independantly measure both rides.

Dont forget the simple fact that the height of the coaster is not everything. though the new steel dragon in japan IS higher than the millenium force, the MF still has an 80 degree angel of decent while the SD is at a mere 67. i don't know about anyone else, but i'd rather go down 300 feet at 10 degree off of straight down that 307 feet at 67 degrees. MF Rulez!!!!
Ok have all of you ridden them both? How do you know? Who really cares. I have not ridden it ,but everyone I have talked to have said MF is a 1 hill ride and the rest really stinks! It would be nice for Kennywood to blow everyone away with not only a record breaker but a great ride ,but remember it doesn't have to be big to be a great ride!
O.K. You guys are the experts. MF rules and SD stinks. Do me a favor and get a clue.
No I would like to ride SD2k but I also think they are just trying to beat cp out.
Ya I heard too that cedar point will keep saying on their commercials tallest and fastest coaster until an independent company measures force and steel dragon.

MF is not a one hill ride. There is so much speed and air time through the whole ride were do you get your info because they are stupid. MF is much better than sd.
Wow, RSD..I love those type of comments...All of my friends said MF sucks, all of my friends says its a *1hill ride*...Geez, Im really tired of comments like that. Like, make your own opinion of the ride, without relying on someone elses...
How can anyone say MF is better when they haven't even ridden SD. Steel Dragon looks sweet, I love the Millennium Force, but hey I'm a coaster enthusist and I think SD looks awesome.
anyone that says mf cant go 115 is WRONG. it has! i was there on a really hott day and track got really hott from the sun and the wheels started to fry, im pretty sure the mechanic i talked to was a reliable source.anyways sd is made in japan so itwill probly fall apart like everything else they make
SD looks weak have you even seen it you have the first drop then you go up another hill which takes the speed out then you go down the hill at a slower speed you loose to much speed in that ride and i agree sd will probably fall apart
Gforce i think your just mad cause you probably will never have i chance to ride SD. You shouldnt say things you dont know etheir its people like you that spread rumors that far out and false read some books and get some sense. i made bad comment about the SD over on the Buzz about the Offical MF Records i said, "Jap should stick to cd players and cars" i would like to take that comment back. SD looks far out and should be a damn good coaster. We should just be happy to be blessed with a coaster of such height it should be a thrill.
mann japan is always breaking our records. Millennium Force is still better!!! And it only being 8 feet taller than mf makes some people madd like me. Millennium Force 4-ever!!!!!!
What are you talking about Japan is always breaking our records. Oh and bye the way trust me its not like i dont like MF its one of the best coasters out there. I just think SD will be a good ride too. Oh and in my opinion one of the US parks will probably have plans to build a good giga coaster someday.
I am sure both MF and SD are Great rides that were put together by Great companies and Records are made to be broken. In my lifetime I would like to ride them both. The argument can be made that my opinion doesn't amount to much because I have only ridden roller coasters from 3 parks. Americana, Kings Island, and Silver Dollar City. But I feel confident enough to say after riding some record breaking and pioneer roller coasters like The Beast, King Cobra, Screami'n Demon, and the Son Of Beast that I LIKE THEM ALL!!! kiddie and Hyper. In time I am sure that we will have another record breaking ride in the states. Until then ..... Can't we all just get along?
