^^So how do you like your trolls? Well done? Medium rare? Extra Crispy?

Hey, there was a fire going earlier in the CP thread! Although it was for Mike E, and he's not a troll. I'd rather not offend him by chucking one in with him.

You have disturbed the forbidden temple, now-you-will-pay!!!

Not to like, ignore any of the above posts but...

I'm personally hoping the trains look more along the lines of this:

Instead of these:

I mean, Flying Turns are Flying Turns and it's going to be a sweet ride none-the-less, but the first trains look so awesome and have such character.

I also like how theres a slight bit of "themeing" already if you can call it that (those funky flags atop the towers like the ones you see at airports and stuff, I think think that could be "themeing" haha) *** Edited 8/31/2006 4:00:39 AM UTC by P18***

I'd wager KFT's trains will be similar to the "cool" ones. The ride is about nostalgia and the airplane cars just scream that.

IIRC they'll have OSTRs ;-(
Not sure what if any of the above is directed toward me, but I started this post because I didn't see/hear anything about the TRAINS anywhere. I admittedly did not read through EVERY post under the "updates", but wanted to get more info about another aspect of the ride. Sorry if I riled or upset anyone out there. *** Edited 8/31/2006 4:40:25 AM UTC by CastleKing***

I believe the OTSRs were one of the items Dick K. had *no* control over. I don't think it was negotiable in any way. From whatever I heard, it seemed that DK wasn't thrilled about them, but had to make the concession in order to get the ride built at all.

Considering the PTC proclamation regarding seatbelts, and which park didn't install them....well, draw your own conclusions...

Still holding out hope they'll come up with something so OTSR's aren't needed. John posted a while back that they might or probably will need OTSR's, but it wasn't definite yet.

I thought the Knobels PTC's have belts and they're just tucked away???

If they do have OTSR's the only reason that I can think for that is due to the close quarters on the ride. It appears it would be rather easy to get hurt if one put their hands up on this baby. I can only think that the OTSR's are the results of either legal issues or insurance issues. Hopefull they will thin like the ones on the newer Intamins but restricting enough to make you keep you hands down. I just hope it doesnt take away from the ride. They may actually enhance it somehow (doubtful). Here I thought I would be seeing pics of the trains based on the title of this thread.

He he. Can I use that in my sig.?

Windsocks. :)

That is the reason for the restraints- the park is worried about riders being able to reach out and touch something, since there will be a lot of things within reach of the average rider.

And not to fan the flames or anything, but there are certain unspoken rules on a message board. Sure, it's okay to joke around and poke fun of one another but it does depend on how long you've been here. People like Moosh, gator and myself can joke with each other because we've known each other through this site for more than half a decade. If you're new to the site and trying to find your place within the conversation, you best stick to the conversation and not try to push things along. It's just like "real life"- if you see a bunch of friends hanging out at a bar and you start talking to them, you don't start poking fun at them right away, even if they are poking fun of one another. Being friends with people entitles you to do certain things that you can't do if you're new acquaintances.

Just my "advice for the day" for newbies...

That's exactly how I feel about the teasing. It's ok once you know someone well enough and you feel there is a mutual respect for each other. But if you start teasing before you've established that trust, you have no idea if the teasing is insulting or just, well teasing.

As for the KFT trains...
It seems to me, and a friend of mine who has ridden the Flying Turns at Riverview, that as long as the riders are positioned low enough in the cars, they wouldn't be able to reach anything to hurt themselves with.

Taking this idea one step further, make the seating very low and also have high sidewalls so all you can do it reach straight up, kinda like the way those thingies on American Eagle's trains keep you from reaching out to the sides. Wouldn't this take care of things? *** Edited 8/31/2006 2:57:58 PM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

I'm pretty sure the park doesn't want the sides of the cars too high because that would take away from the "open" feeling. At least that is what I understand to be the case, going by what I know.

LOL, sure haha, for the life of me I searched and everything but the name of them completely slipped my mind...

Someone as freakishly huge at Rob will need more than OTSR to keep them from touching things they shouldn't. *** Edited 8/31/2006 2:11:51 PM UTC by millrace***
Straightjackets.

Six Flags and Cedar Fair will charge you $7.00 for the rental ($5.00 of which will be refunded when you return them) but Knoebels will make sure they're complimentary.

Exactly Matt.

As THAT friend, there was NO problem with the FTs trains at Riverview. Granted, parks were not as paranoid as they are now, but what about the Mack trains on Avalanche at KD? I just don't see the need for OTSRs.

Mike

Laugh your troubles away at Riverview, the world's largest amusement park.
The bobsled trough on Avalanche is a LOT wider than the trough on the new Flying Turns.

If a park like Knoebels (which pretty much shuns the idea of seatbelts on a wood coaster) sees the need for OTSR's on a ride, I'm sure there is a very good reason for them being there.

I like the Idea better of sitting people in a layed back possition with siderails.

Sortta like Tig'rr at Indiana Beach

Chuck, who knows there will be idiots reaching out to the sides to touch the track.

And Knoebels surely knows of those idiots as well!
