Flaw in Scream @ SFMM?

Just in case there's confusion, this Matt is NOT that Matt.

Scream! is a very smooth ride, the only part that I've noticed to be "jerky" is at the very bottom of the first drop before entering the verticle loop, the train like shakes as if the track is messed up, it's very odd.

Or the OTHER Matt, nor the Matt that goes by Matthew, etc...

Matts, Kyles, Mikes, and Robs, you are hereby notified that you MUST get yourself a singular moniker or risk being lumped in with all those other people of the same name...;)

To me, Scream is a bigger, but similar ride, to BDK up at SFNE...perhaps B&M changed *something* in their floorless designs, something that adversely affected the ride? Just a thought....

I didn't think Scream was too rough. Sure, it wasnt the smoothest of B&Ms, but few coasters can maneuver through inversions like that "perfectly", and it is still better than 95% of coasters out there as far as smoothness goes, at least to me ;)

No one is saying its rough as in "unridable" but that it has an odd vibration/shuffle uncharacteristic of most B&M products.

Well I'd like to steer this topic back on track here (no pun intended)

First, those same sort of "track extension" appears on Mantis.

Umm that's funny I'll have to keep my eyes open if I remember to when i make a visit. Like I asked has anyone else noticed this sort of find on any other BM ?

Hey, leave me out of this. ;)

My brother said the same thing about bad shuufling that ruined his rides on Scream. I've only experiences that once on the former BKF at SFWOA back in June 2003. Nasai and RObocoaster will back me up that it was so freaking painful that day we only rode once despite it being a walkon. I think that was upkeep/wheel related too.

I was there in late May 2003 and experienced the exact same thing on BKF. The backseat rides were terrible and very uncharactistic of a Beemer. It also seemed to me like it could have been a wheel problem.

Pale Rider - I've noticed that same sensation but ONLY on the floorless models at SFNE, Geauga Lake, and of course SFMM. The newer inverts [Talon, Silver Bullet] do not seem to have it, nor did any of the speed coasters [Nitro, Bull, Apollo].

Interesting, eh?

There is a photo of the Mantis brake run. They are mainly on the turn in the brake run. I can't remember if any other B&M's have this, but I'm sure they do.

I think some people need to lay off and ease down on all the quoting here ;)

No, they need to learn how to quote correctly ;)

ShivTim - you didn't catch it on a bad day...that's how Scream runs. Odd, considering the park has other B&M coasters than run smoothly.

Huh, right. I've ridden Scream! multiple times and it all depends on what row and seat you sit in. Some seats in the middle rows rattle the most while the rear rows in all seats it is butter signature smooth with no shuffling or rattling.

I agree!

^Krax, admittedly, I haven't ridden it in every seat. BUT based on my singular experience, I can say that I felt it was the worst B&M I've ridden yet, with Dominator (in 2003, as BKF) a somewhat close second. I will probably give it another shot when I happen upon SFMM again, someday.

Until then, I don't mind saying it's a piece of crap.

So what are you saying Moosh? That only half the Six Flags parks that had floorless models take care of them?;) *** Edited 4/20/2005 2:12:33 AM UTC by Pale Rider***

No...but maybe those three have something in common material, construction, or maintenance-wise?
How about the fact that maybe those three parks all didn't take care of their floorless coasters properly? I don't know. That's just a guess.

SFNE and Geauga only have one B&M but SFMM has three. Why does one track poorly and the other two not? That's what I don't get.
