Flashback SFMM

Does anyone know if this ride will ever be back up and running? On my last visit, they didn't have it running and 2 years ago it wasn't running either, and everyone says it has been closed down for like over 3 years or so. I was just wondering because I remember when i was around 6 or 7 i went there with my good ol Grandpa and they had it running and I loved it and it seemed quite fun, but then again I was 6 or 7 years old and anything can seem fun then...so, Does anyone know if this ride will be up and running, ever??
I thought they used to open it up for a couple of months in the winter just so they could claim it as a roller coaster for their count. I could be dead wrong.

Im glad you are so randomely passionate about Amy Lee. . .

Down is the new up.
I heard its only open when Hurrican Harbor isn't open. Its super loud from what I heard and its annoying to HH quest.

Thanks,
DMC

I know that it's for the marketing reasons though, but it's not like they tell people on the website that the ride has not been open for 3 years. Sixflags only says when the ride reopens.

We should put this ride with Steel dragon 2000 as a rollercoaster that is only interesting to look at.

Like Crashmando said, it's only open when the water park is closed. It has a very loud "roar" like B&M coasters and if it did run while Hurricane Harbor was open, it would make it VERY hard for the lifeguards to hear someone who may be yelling for help in the wavepool...or at least that's the theory I seem to hear most often.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Yah, I heard that too...but with tons of kids running around screaming with glee, I don't know how they'd be able to pick out the real distress anyway.

Personally, I think they want to save on the maintenance budget...not that they spend much on it when it's open anyway. ;)

You're correct that the coaster's operations are quite limited but your reason is wrong. It has nothing to with claiming a count and everything to do with staffing and maintenance budgets.

Um....what the heck are you talking about. It (SD2K)kicks butt, and will likely reopen when all the safety stuff is worked out. There's nothing wrong with flashback operationally. Just SFMM. *** Edited 11/5/2004 11:38:26 PM UTC by Peabody***

I was relating Steel Dragon to Flashback in they both have not operated in just so long. We can't ride them so all we can do is just stare at them. Steel Dragon has not been open since August 2003 thats nearly 15 months! I don't believe it took that long to construct Steel Dragon so I think it's safe to say Steel Dragon is going through some serious issues.Perhaps due to the government. *** Edited 11/5/2004 11:40:28 PM UTC by GIGAFORCE01***

I still don't think Flashback is open when HH is closed...In October there was nothing going on over there...The last time I remember it being open was probably March 2003...It was walk on a one kid was moving from seat to seat after every circuit...when I asked him why, he said he wanted to ride a circuit in every single seat...pretty odd I thought, but if he likes it, hell, why not...

Besides being an eye sore, I personally don't mind the ride at all...when It's open, I'll take a couple cycles...

Flashback is evil. I honestly don't care if its open or closed as I won't ride it. :) I got the credit, and that one ride was enough.

And yes, the ride is an eyesore. The paint is peeling and the ride is rusty.

I don't think the ride is open even when HH is closed. I believe its a budgeting issue, one of many at SFMM. I'm guessing its a last priority ride to open at the park.

Around New Year's I'm planning to go to SFMM. Does anyone know if it'll be open around then? It used to be open @ SFGAm, but I wasn't born yet.

Maybe they should have thought about FB being open before they built the water park? Unless they didn't care. Just my opinion. I would also like it to be open in December, so that when I go I can just get the credit! :) *** Edited 11/6/2004 11:20:40 PM UTC by coasterfreak11***

You do know that it is an Intamin, correct?
I sorta wanted to ride it, even though it is a notorious headbanger, mainly 'cause I didn't get to when it was at SFOG as Z-force, and I'm pretty sure that it is only open in the winter because of the HH issues.

It's been less than 3 years since it ran.

It was definitely running in February 2003. Believe it or not, all 15 coasters were running that day. :)

I was at the park on January 1st and 2nd this year and it wasn't doing anything. Then again not many of the coasters were doing anything. I only got to ride 9 of the 16.

Ya...that's why I said "it has a very loud "roar" LIKE B&M coasters" and not something like "it's a B&M coaster so it has a loud roar" or "it has a loud roar like all other B&M's"..then again, when Walt and Claude left Intamin, they basically kept that design of track so it's similar...

I've heard rumblings that Flashback has some issues that may shut it down permanently. Whether or not SF removes it is another story. Got to keep that count up there.
