Fisrt Drop yet not the Largest Drop?

APForce, what are you talking about? The Beast's last drop goes down 144'(at a very small(angle), but severely intense banked drop) into a helix which I don't believe is near ground level. It is the scariest part of a coaster I've ever experienced. Nothing else comes close.

PKI-Wooden and Kiddie Coaster Capital of the World!
The First and Only Gigabuzzer bigger than Millie, rising Faster than Maggie, and pulls more BS than MS ever will!!!
You are the Weakest Link! Goodbye!!!
I can think of 3 more.
The Great White in Wildwood's first drop takes you under the boardwalk.
The Big Bad Wolf's biggest drop is after the 2nd lifthill.
Leap the Dips is near the end of the ride.

"I forget where it was too, The name of the coaster was The Blue Streak. I have a book at home with a pic and info on that one."

Would that be the Blue Streak at Woodcliffe Pleasure Park? You can find info on it here: http://www.coasterglobe.com/features/lostlegends-bluestreak/index.cfm - looks like it was a great coaster! *** This post was edited by Lothar on 4/20/2001. ***
Ghostrider has a small drop out of the station to lead off.

but also Disneyland and DCA
So, if the Beast's drop into the helix doesn't go near ground level, it wouldn't go into this category. Since the Beast's first drop is 141(?) feet, that would be the longest drop.

I don't get what you're saying APForce, but it definitely goes here. The drop not height is bigger than the first.

I don't get what you're saying either. From what you've said, the Beast's drop into the helix does not go to ground level. Being that the second lift gets to 144 ft. and the first lift gets to somewhere around 140, the first drop drops more feet than the one going into the helix.

I'm not completely sure. Usually, I'm too scared to look at anything except that tiny hole getting ready to chop my head off.

There are alot if you count the hill out of the station to the lift hill. Some are bigger than others, but all are changes in elevation that give the trains the momentum from the station to lift hill. Wouldn't they all count?

Do all drops have to go to ground level to be considered in this thread? I think not.

The Beast's first drop is 135 while the drop off the second lift is 141. I do consider the Beast worthy enough to fit in this category.

For what it's worth, I understand the old Puritas Springs Cyclone's biggest drop came towards the end of the ride.

Read the name of the topic...first drop yet not the longest. I'm saying that the Beast wouldn't fit here because the first drop is the longest.

APForce, that's the point. The Beast's last drop is longer. It fits.

I was under the assumption that this thread was talking about elevation, rather than track legth for the duration of the drop, which is the only case The Beast's last drop would be it's biggest.
Not many wooden coaster DON'T have drops out of the station.
Superman Ultimate Escape has a first drop smaller than the second drop. When you are launched out of the station you only go half way up the spiral tower, then you are propelled back up the second tower the full 180 feet. Then you are launched up the spiral tower 180 feet. So this would apply as a second drop bigger than the first.
The Beast's last drop is the highest, not the longest. Maybe if you read the title of the topic, you'd understand.
