For steel I would have to say Iron Wolf and Raging Bull are tied I also like B:TR at SFGAm.Hulk is also cool at night.
For wood I like Viper at SFGAm but thats a great ride always. But at night it feels very closed in almost clostophobic (I cant spell sorry)even though I am not

The Beast but that is obvious. Any coaster is better at night. :-)

I have only been on one coaster at night but it was great. Wildfire at night during the Christmas Festival at Silver Dollar City is really cool, you can see all the Christmas Lights through the trees all around, really a neat sight. Rides at sunset are really pretty looking over the hills as well. Its also pretty wild too when you come out of the Cobra Roll and start towards the main building at full speed it feels like your going to go right into it, quite a rush.

...."The Beast" No need to explain why......because if you have road it at night, you know what i am talking about. And would agree.

You are the passengers on a most uncommon elevator, about to ascend into your very own episode of the Twilight Zone
I have ridden Beast at night, many times over the years. There's nothing more exciting than coming to a near stop in the shed on Beast. Yawn.

There you go again, Moosh, with your Beast-hating ways. I know for a fact it didn't come to a near-stop when we shared that night ride 2 years ago, and the new computer program the Beast was running this year made the ride run pretty fast through the shed.

OK...so "near stop" is an exageration, but the train did slow considerably. I'm not knocking Beast, its a fine ride...just not one of my favorites.

Sig under construction!
My *best ever* night ride was back in 95 at BGW. Mid July night pitch dark with drizzle and heat lightning, on Big Bad Wolf...it was insane. It *totally* changed the way that I look at that coaster because I *know* i'll never get another ride on it like that. As far as the "usual" night rides, Grizzly at PKD is the wooden favorite for me, and SROS(SFA), MF, AC, and Alpie all get my top vote. VOlcano comes in a close second though...something about those huge white lights shining onto the top of that mountain....it's rather nice...

189 coasters ridden (but it's still only early)
Depends where I'm at. If I'm at cedar point I'll wait until the last sec to get a night ride on millie. You can't see anything on that ride at night. All you see going up the hill is the lift lights flashing colors. At sfgreatamer. I have to ride the bull at night.

Steel: Phantom... both PR & SPThunderbolt, and Jackrabbit during Phantom Fright Nights... who knew a blanket of fog could add so much to a coaster?
Thunderbolt wasn't even open during PFN. But it is one of my favorite coasters. Especially back seat, especially by night when the oil is all heated up...
