Favorite Night Coasters?

Tatsu
Well, I hate to jump on the bandwagon here, as I like to be a little different from time to time, but if youve ridden Voyage at night, you know there is not a single ride experience that even comes close to comparing to this.

Whether you choose to make it your "favorite" of the nighttime experiences, it is the most unique, out of control sensation on the planet, not being able to see on the Voyage, and will invoke genuine fear in every bone in your body as you are FLYING.

Going to HW in August so I am eager to see how the 3 woodies are at night. Right now my top 3 night coasters are:

1) Boulder Dash- Pitch black going through woods on side of mountain...amazing.

2) Nitro- Pitch black going into woods is amazing.

3) Apollo's Chariot-Don't know what it is, but this ride has twice as much airtime at night and because it is isolated from the already dark BGE, it is a very cool experience.

Top 5: S:RoS at SFNE, El Toro, MF, Boulder Dash, Kingda Ka
I would say MF, Magnum, and Phantom's Revenge.

The first time when I rode Magnum (or any 'big' coaster), I was eight years old and did it at night, so it holds my emotional vote. Also, I love cresting the second and third hills and looking out and seeing the pitch blackness of the water.

Same goes for MF and PR with no lights along the course. I don't know if it was intentional or not on Kennywood's part, but no track lighting enhances an already great ride.

My five:
1. Kingda Ka.
2.Millenium Force (pitch Dark)
3.Phoenix.
4. Twister. (I love the campfires)
5. Steel Force(its at the edge of Dorney....so all you have to do is sit on the right side...of the train, and you have an AWESOME veiw of the park)

Simple enough,

:]

The Beast and Boulder Dash are tops for me...

You won't see me coming...

Millennium Force, preferably during a late Halloweekends night when the fog from the Fright Zone has drifted over and blanketed the bottom of the first drop and part of the overbanked turn. *** Edited 7/25/2006 2:44:44 AM UTC by macho nachos***

You could not be any more right. The only ones who don't think this is the best coaster at night are the ones who have not ridden it in pitch black.

1)The Voyage 2)Thunderhead
3)TTD 4)Magnum
5)DD Ice 6)Phantom's Revenge

Of Course the Holiwoodies, and I'll throw in Mindbender at SFoG and Thunderhead for good measure.

^ Mindbender was so totally and completely off the chain during 'Fling...I almost missed out on "the one true B&M hyper" (which is a superb night ride in its own right)... ;)
1. Nitro
2. Millenium Force
3. X
4. Beast
5. Raging Bull
1. Twister in the dark. I'm not talking night, I'm talking totally dark with no lights in Pennsylvania fog. Those head-choppers are amazing.
2. Pheonix in the dark. Fog is good too.
3. The Beast (especially during fireworks).
4. Goliath @ La Ronde. As you crest the lift hill, you see Olympic Stadium all lit up, straight ahead across the river. Not many parks incorporate an true architechtural landmarks in their coaster ambience.
This has been said a few times before, but all 3 of Holiday World's coasters don't have words that can describe a night ride.

At Holiwood Friday Night, there was a spotlight on the Legend train as it asended the lift hill. This was a cool effect and all, but also destroyed what night vision I had going out of the station on my first ride. All I could see the entire ride were shadows of large objects as a flew past them. It was quite the ride.

Then there's Voyage at night. All I can say is a Daytime ride on the Voyage is better than some of the best coasters at night. I have never had a ride in my life that out of control. *** Edited 7/26/2006 2:12:09 AM UTC by 0g***

Boulder Dash is pretty awesome. The fact that towrads the end of the night the skyride area is deserted so the only sound is the rush of the wind and the roar of the trains. And since it's terrain and the trees are still there, I always find myself ducking and dodging branches that come flying by.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

The Beast- last ride of the night with the park closing, watching fireworks from the lifthill. That final tunnel at night is just insane. Have you seen the Beast?

But nothing beats Holiday World at night. And the Voyage makes what was already a great night time coaster (the Legend) seems tame. But still great. And the Raven, wow, what a great coaster park.

I have to give it to Cedar Point though. Great sunsets, the views from high up at night. That park becomes twice as fun at night. *** Edited 7/26/2006 7:31:06 PM UTC by rc-madness***

I'm partial to a few...

3. California Screamin (DCA) - The lighting is cool especially in the half tunnels
2.Big Thunder Mountain (WDW) - When going up the second lift it really feels like you are in the middle of nowhere because its all black behind the park.
1. Revolution (SFMM) - Even with the stupid restraints, you can't beat flying through all those trees at night in the darkness, even though its not as isolated since Tatsu.

...and such
