A couple of years ago I went to Niagara falls with my inlaws I figured on a boring time until I found a flyer in the hotel room for Marineland.I talked everybody into going there, and found what became to be one of my favorite coasters Dragon Mountain. If you go to Canada you better ride this coaster, you'll love it.
I kinda did. Way back in the summer of 1997, I went to Las Vegas, and the coaster I was particularly excited about riding was Desperado. I didn't even know about New York New York's Manhattan Express which when I rode it, turned out to be my favorite coaster. I have heard that the ride has not aged well, and has fallen into complete mediocrity now.

Kennywood's Exterminator. First of all, I didn't even know that it was a wild mouse. Second, I had no idea a spinning mouse was so fabulous!

I was walking through Liverpool town centre England shopping when out of the corner of my eye I saw a bright yellow track with red supports. it was a small almost wild mouse coaster by Pinfari with a ridiculously small and intense loop and two great turns. nothing compared to theme park coasters but fun considering it was in a car park in Liverpool town centre!!
Millennium Force?? okay okay... I think Top Gun at PGA. Who knew such a small invert would be so intense

Best Coaster: Millennium Force

Ghostrider at KBF. I had heard absolutely zero about it at the time, at the time didn't find woodies too great, and just wasn't too enthused about going. I just happened to hitch along with some family. Anyway, I hopped in the backseat in the morning, and got a swift kick in the behind! The mid-course drop had probably the most severe airtime I've experienced, even more than SROS's 3rd hill. Coupled with the unbelievably fast and visually stunning second half, I was converted!
Cyclops and Zeus at Big Chiefs. I knew they were CCI coasters but I didnt know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised that a Go-Kart park would have a couple of great woodies.

Jack Rabbit at Kennywood...I knew about the double dip, but I had no clue about what the double dip caused!!! One of my most pleasant coaster surprises.

Coasters...the best natural buzz available.
Thunder Run at SFKK. I went on it once, and hated it. It was too rough and not very enjoyable. The second time I was there, I went on it front seat and loved it. It wasn't too rough, except the only problem is that my lap bar wouldn't come down any farther than about 5" off my lap(luckley I had a seatbelt). I ended up going on it again today front seat, and loved it.
Believe it or not, Raging Wolf Bobs in that Six Flags park in Aurora, Ohio. Yes, it's rouch and shaky, but therer were at least THREE good moments of STRONG ejection in the backseat. That's enough IMO to make any coaster enjoyable.

Magnum. I was forced on it. And now I love it.

I agree with Mooreon... I was totally fooled by Jackrabbit's small track. The double dip was the most intense airtime I had ever expected. I put my hands up, big mistake, I went flying out of my seat and literally literally and I mean literally almost out of the entire car. My friend next to me grabbed my shirt and yanked me back in as hard as he could. That ride was aweosme. I rode it again with my hands on the bar, and I still flew out of the seat. I could not stop myself. I'm too light.

Last year we did a weekend trip in Minneapolis to do Valleyfair and The Mall of America. It was our first trip to Valleyfair and we were pleasantly surprised by the park. We loved Wild Thing but the biggest surprise was Excalibur. It's in the back of the park and can be missed if you don't look for it.

Skyliner at Lakemont. Heck, Leap-The-Dips at Lakemont, too.
Last summer I took a spur-of-the-moment trip over there to see the "world's oldest roller coaster". I expected to enjoy it, but not THAT much! What a great little ride!
And Skyliner was a completely unexpected treat. It's not that big, or fast, but the airtime pop over that first hill is incredible...

I went to the park with a YMCA camp, and I didn't even know the park had a coaster. Boy was I suprised when I found Dragon Mountain.

Villain at SFO, my buddies dragged me on....who would have thunk it....its now my favorite wooden coaster.
I agree with GregLeg completely. Lakemont's Skyliner and Leap-the-Dips are complete suprises and the Skyliner is highly underrated!
