Events You Attended

I just wanted to know which events you went to last year in 2002 and your thoughts on them. I think events are a great way to meet coaster enthusiasts and ride coasters. I went to Phoenix Phall PhunPhest, and it was well worth the 15$;) I will be at SRM,Coaster Madness, Coaster Celebration, and PPP next year.

PPP was my first event. Well worth the price of admission and the 3 hr. drive.

I attended CoasterMania, CoasterBuzzCon, and TimbersFest. I'd have to say CoasterBuzzCon was my favorite, but that's because I met a number of our Buzzers and I hadn't been back to PKI since the early to mid-eighties. CoasterMania is an experience in itself.

I went to Winter Solace, Coaster Con, and ACE day at Bonfante Gardens. My favorite of those was Coaster Solace.

It was my first event as well, and also well worth the three hour trip from Philly (Knoebels always is). I had a great time, the park was truely alive that night.

This coming year I will be headed out for SRM and will do PPP again.

The Year 2002 ,I went toSFDL Season Pass Weekend then to the WNYCC Coaster Fest ( Knoebels- Dorney Parks) then to ACE Day at Great Escape .Then in Aug. off to ACE Preverstion Conferce in New England.
I haven't attended any events, but I plan on heading to PPP next year.

I went to KennyKon, CoasterMania, CoasterCon, and the Northern Ohio ACE Christmas Party in December. Out of all those I would have to say CoasterCon was my favorite. It would have been a lot better had we been able to ride X but I still had a lot of fun in LA!

Knott's Winter Solace - two nights of *amazing* ERT on Ghostrider, yummy Mrs Knotts Chicken Dinner, and nice sunny So Cal weather in the winter...what more can you ask when most parks are closed? I'll tell ya...ERT on Xcelerator, too!

SRM - hands down my favorite event of the year and, for most, the event that kicks off your coaster-riding season. Two nights of amazing "I can't believe how fast these trains are going" ERT....*in the dark*! Two great meals, a amazing waterpark, free softdrinks...all the the best "little" park in the midwest.

PPP - if SRM is the event that kicks off the season than PPP is the other bookend. Fall colors, crips cool air, fantastic classic flats, two great woodies, pizza, and fun halloween costumes. The perfect way to end the year.

I've also attended a few ACE events including Fall Conference 99, ACE Con 2000, Preservation Con 2001, and coming this year ACE Con 2003. All have been a blast!

Coasterbash (first time), Kennykon (second), SRM (first), Coastermania (second) and PPP (second).

After our first PPP we said that was it, it was a must do every year. I didn't think anything could top it, until SRM. We didn't even wait till after, it was during the first night of SRM that we said it's a must do every year. This park is so special even without all the added bonuses of SRM.

For 2002, I hit the same list as Lori, plus the first week of the ACE European Odyssey (which really WAS the trip of a lifetime). That was my 3rd PPP and 2nd SRM, and I plan on hitting both again this year, which should tell you something about the quality of the event.

Events on the "hopeful" list for this year are EastCoaster (definite), Coaster Solace (definite), BuzzCon, SRM (wouldn't miss it!), CoasterMania, CoasterCon, KennyKon, CAC, and PPP (see SRM).

Let's see, aside from the CoasterZombies' Texas tour (SFAW, SFoT, 0-g Thrill Park, SFFT, SWT) which had it's own dynamic, I went to SRM (hi loriu:)), CoasterMadness (Dorney) and Coaster Celebration (SFGAdv). SRM was both awesome and disappointing. The event itself was awesome. I was *personally* disappointed because there was not enough time for me to spend *quality* time with all mes amis.

CM and CC were great because neither was marked by an armada of "CoasterTools". That, and I shared both of those with "T", who'd previously not had much fun at parks, made those events special to me. She keeps buggin me to take her to a "tool-laden" event...I'm thinking CoasterMania ;)

I did SRM, Timbersfest and Screechfest last year. Had a ball at them all. SRM and Timbersfest are two rare times you can ride the coasters at night. I highly suggest em.

Haven't ever attended any events, but I was working @ PKI during CoasterBuzzCon 1, got to meet a lot of people, incuding jeff during the ERT session on FOF at the end of the night.

Hey Jeremy, we'll have to fix that sometime this year, won't we.
SRM - a "must do". Sure, it's crowded and ERT is falling into the "Extended" as opposed to "Exclusive" ride time catagory - but the atmosphere is perfect for the true coaster junkie.

Coastermania - See SRM

Timbersfest - I had a great time last year. A premire event it's not, but the night rides on 'Timbers are unforgettable. I think I believe I had the only perfect ride I've ever had on a coaster last year on ST.

That's it for me. And I'm planning on attending all three again this year.

Without the chaindog, you'd never get up the lifthill...

The MiG Staff and TPO Staff all went to Coaster Christmas at SDC/CC in December and had a blast. The walk thro' at CC was a lot of fun. Also getting to see Clair from GCII was neat as well.
