ERT at PKI for CoasterBuzzCon!

Yes, the plan is to meet for Tomb Raider, but it's really up to the park on how they want to handle it.

More details coming soon... keep watching!

I'm going to have to try to work this one in. I'm going to be at PKI on May 4, but the Beast is closing down early for their Gold passholders so I wouldn't get a night ride. This could more than make up for that.

It was worth a shot Jeff. Thanks again for getting all this in order man. It is greatly appreciated.

Oh man! When it's running well at night, it's really one of those life-altering, religious-experience coaster rides. It's hard to compare it to anything else. It's like the difference between The Raven during the day and late at night!

Once I had the pleasure of riding it at night when there was an abnormally high number of lightning bugs out. It was like on star Wars or Star Trek when the ship goes into light speed. Very cool!

CBaby was beaten to a pulp during URC II ERT. First she was holding her arm, then her head, then she began to complain that she needed to see a doctor....but she WOULDN'T GET OFF, even when repeatedly asked to quit or at least take a break.

Only recently has the Beast been surpassed in her POV.

Jeff, you rock! I can't wait for night time ERT on the Beast! My night rides on the Beast last year were insane! And to think that I'll get even more on the Beast.

The food sounds nice too, from what Stephanie reported from the PKI Media event it looks like PKI and food go together ;)

I got to ride The Beast at night spring 2000. What a rush. I only remember one or two lights on, one near one of the main hills. I never realized how rough it was until riding at night. When you can't see, your other senses take over. :) You feel and hear the bumps more. Still not real bad though, and nothing compared to SOB's roughness. That was a month after SOB's opening day though.
The cooler night wind in the face on Beast at night was nice.

So they turn off most of the brakes for these events?

Jeff, do you know what recent work they've done to Beast?

Burgers, chicken and hot dogs aren't quite the same as their media events (somehow I doubt we'll get an ice sculpture in the shape of Buzzy). Still, it should be a good pig out fest for sure!

They've also pretty much finished the new magnetic brake retrofit on Beast, and the dummies were in the trains for testing ( On 4/8/02)... Not sure how the new brakes will effect the ride...

I'm not entirely sure about the magnetic brakes for The Beast. From what I could tell from the Vortex lift this past weekend, the final brake run was refitted with standard fin brakes. Granted, what I saw was about 5% of all the brakes on the thing so I don't know what's going on out on the course, but the definintely the skids are gone from the first drop and final brake run.
