Erie, PA Residents...

Can / Has anyone taken a trip out to Waldameer to check on the spinner's construction? The coaster is being built right behind Thunder River.

PS: Any Erie residents with a digital camera that is willing to take pictures, can you please PM me..?

The coaster won't be done until after the park opens, so what they are going to do is bring in a portable spinning mouse until the permanent one is finished, so be sure and get a ride on it!

I know that the ride will not be complete until the beginning of June. What I'm asking is that has anyone gone out and taken a look at how construction is coming along...

So I'm not the only one sick enough to be thinking two quick trips to Waldameer?

One for the temp credit and one for the permanent credit. :)

No, I'm thinking the same thing.

If I lived out there, I'd be thinking that too!

Since park admission is free...

...I'd swing by there twice if I have a reason, but it's like a 90minute drive... so I'm thinking the first time to buy illegal fireworks and then stop by there to lose my tracks & try out the temp spinning mouse (I heard from others that the porta is actually more intense than the park model)...

...and then later in the season, find a reason to go there again & pop on the park model mouse for a spin or two (no pun intended). That's the beauty of Waldameer... you can just stop there, park free, and ride just what you want without spending a whole lot for anything!

I live 6 blocks from the park and will check the back lot around the end of march. Most of their construction starts after the snow is gone.

The parts may arrive in late Feb. but, very doubtful.

DawgByteII, I like your idea about going there on your way to buy fireworks.

Illegal fireworks, part of western PA culture.

Weight lost to ride more coasters......90lbs
Illegal fireworks are part of the Central PA culture as well. Out here in the sticks you'd be amazed- Some of them are better than the fireworks displays put on by the larger towns! ;) Maybe it's just Pennsylvanians...

I've often wondered from time to time, how to write good poetry- and make it all... Work.

Checked out the back parking lot. Didn't see any track but they removed the picnic pavilion that sat

between thunder river and raindow gardens. The pavilion under Thunder River is still there.

I took a trip down to Waldameer today, and really nothing has happened, no track is on site, only a little of the foundation is done... just looks like one dirt pile right now. I wonder where they are storing the track? Nelson already said that track has arrived... *** Edited 3/21/2004 11:02:58 PM UTC by Rctycoon2k***

Illegal fireworks in PA? Must be a western PA thing, not an eastern PA thing.

When I lived near Philly I used to smuggle the *goods* from the Carolinas once a year.

I don't visit PA very often now but when I do I smuggle Yuengling Lager back to WV. :-)

That's what I need to do. When I visit Hershey in May I am going to stock up. lol

If only they sold it in WV. Other than PA, they sell it in NC and FL, and MD I think. They probably sell it in NJ and DE as well.

The Yuengling brewery in Pottsville is fun to visit, plus it's near Knoebels. :-)

I'm not a big drinker, but when a beer is in hand, Yuengling is the liquid of choice. :)

Any word on the portable that John Peck was talking about? Is it there? Is it still going to go in temporarily?

Still looking to whore up the count :)

Hmmm...does anyone know exactly when it'll open? I have a trip to Western PA (fireworks included) planned for the 3rd week in June. Will the permanent one be open by that time, and if not, will the temporary mouse still be there? *** Edited 3/30/2004 9:58:25 PM UTC by chewy77***
