Editing a post containing a link

Jeff-
I noticed a couple of times that if I try to edit a post with a link in it, I get something like this:
http://www.independent.co.uk/story.jsp?story=94339" target=_blankhttp://www.independent.co.uk/story.jsp?story*** This post was edited by chris on 9/28/2001. *** /
*** This post was edited by chris on 9/28/2001. ***
When it's happened before, I rewrote the post.  This time I left it, as it was already responded to and part of an ongoing dialouge.  Is this something I've done wrong, and how could I avoid this?

I've been trying to reproduce that and I can't make it happen. I want to fix it, but I need to know what causes it. :(

The example I left up is in "Reactions and Healings,"  in the "By the Book" thread.  I had posted a link to an article for gatorwoodie to check out, and was replying to a post by GregLeg.  I mispelled Greg as Gerg, which he pointed out, and when I went to fix it all of my text dissapeared. All that was remaining is what I copied into the above post.
I think I may have incited GregLeg's wrath.

"Ah, Chris, have you ever heard the old Klingon proverb that revenge is a dish that is best served cold..."

Whoops, sorry. ;)

Nah, I USE "Gerg" quite often as a nickname.  Just pointing out that a typo is EXACTLY how I came up with it, many years ago.

As for the URL bug, I see it quite a bit, but only when using the Rich Post; for now I always make sure to use the Plain post when editing.  If I can come up with an EXACT sequence that causes this problem I'll let Jeff know so he can nail this one.

I was just joking about the revenge. ;)  I know you're not that type of person.

Thanks for the Rich Post tip, I'll try to avoid it from now on.
