Eagle re-tracking at SFGAm

Stoogemanmoew said "when we rode the red side last season, the front of the train came up about 3 inches when it hit the trim brake going into the helix."

I've experienced the red train coming up about 3 inches too, but not on the helix, it was while I was on the lift and it seemed to struggle as it was going up the first part of the lift hill until all trains were going up. Anybody experience too? Is that normal?

the jump thing always happens on the lift for both trains, but I've never seen it do that on the brakes.

It usually seems to happen if not a lot of people are in the train. It has happened to me a couple of times and it was really scary. I love coasters but one of my biggest fears is getting stuck in the lift!!! lol

No, squealing is *not* a good thing. It means the ride doesn't have enough lubrication and metal is running on metal. There are definitely wooden coasters out there I've never heard squeal, mainly those that are taken care of.

For what it's worth, I rarely hear AE squeal (surprisingly, only the red side last year and only on the run before the lift) and have only heard Viper squeal once, when it was running in the rain.

I don't think I've ever not heard the Eagle squeal a bit... Though that's usually just a few squeaks between the station and the lift hill. Nothing like Mean Streak. *shudders*

Hollister, you do realize that you're villifying what most enthusiasts would consider a dream come true, right? ;)

Perhaps that 3 inch lift at the top of the helix is a combination of the airtime and the trim brakes closing? Just a guess.....
Squel, yes I have heard that wail on many ocassions and is the #1 reason that turns me off from the ride. Once it was so bad that everyone on the train was convinced we were going to fly off (literally) on the helix because the car was so far off the track on the outside rail.

The train flying off the track, ha, that's a good one...

Aren't they?

Everytime that I have ridden AE it squeals, mostly in the big helix. I have probably ridden it 50 times--my old home park. I love the ride, especially backwards, and the squeals, even though bad for the ride wheels and tracking, makes the ride experience for me.

thanx for sayin that twice turbo *cough*. where u from transfan? oh and goin up the lift theres a reason the ride seems to come up, but i'd also get into trouble for explaining that.
It doesn't matter where I'm from, arockam2. What matters is I get my daily laugh from this website!
Enlighten me and tell me what is funny....Maybe I missed it.
What's so funny? "Stop the presses! There're retracking part of Eagle!" It's almost along the lines of "OMG there are clouds in the sky!" So they are retracking part of Eagle. And? Pieces of Whizzer are missing and I don't see a post here on CoasterBuzz. That's what's so funny. Things don't last forever, especially roller coaster track. Good Day.
gee...a guy looks for information on current events and he get bashed. well I guess we should all just go back to our rock caves and not bother with anything else going on in the world.

transfan, this is a coaster site. if you come here, you should expect to see discussions of rides being retracked. someone who had no information on a certain coaster being retracked looked to get the information here. what's the big deal?

its funny cuz u all make it sound like they are redoin the whole track, they dont have the time to do that.
The big deal is some people blow it out of proportion. It's a little piece of track because the track can't handle the backwards train. It's not the whole thing. Minor stuff here. That's all.
No one was making a giant deal about the fact that they are re-tracking the Eagle, I didn't know if the whole thing was being retracked or only part of it. I happen to think that 90% of the information discussed on this site are not important matters and when it comes to discussing the upkeep of a classic rollercoaster....well, you get the point.

"Simon Cowell Disses Idol Hopeful" - "New SFGAm commercials?" - "Catchy Station music" - "TTD Testing RIGHT NOW!"

To be honest, I find it amusing that you come here to find your entertainment, get a life buddy.....

Did we say it was a big deal? Even if the Eagle was getting a full re-tracking, would we say it was a big deal? Well, maybe. But only then. Anyway, it's threads like these where people find out all sorts of cool little stuff. Granted, there's been precious little of that in this thread, but, hey, you win some, you lose some.
