Dueling Dragon Question

I was looking at pics of DD in 1999 and the lake around the area was, like a very baby blue or some color close to that. And when I went there in Feb 01', the lake was like a darker color, and the color wasn't even blue? Is this true that the lake was blue at one time?

Hey, It was on a site called GKT or something like that. A guy takes pics from his airplane. Any help would be great! Thanks!:)

Photos can be color-tinted to look "better", that could be what happened to the photos you're thinking of. Or yes, it can get darker, with the growth of algae and so forth.

I don't remember water being there when I was there in January.

that photo is of a model thats not a real time photo.
I gotta agree with Nitro on this one. I went last summer and I sure think I'd remember if water was there. And I'd definitely remember if it was a light blue.

My vote is that it's not there anymore. Hmm.

That sure doesnt look like a model!
I just looked back at pictures I took in July and there is definitely water under this ride. I can't tell how light it is, but the color is blue for sure.

That is a model. Trust me. Look at the wharehouse in the upper right. Along the ground, there is a black line which is where it does not sit perfectly flat with the ground. There are a few other things that make it look like a model, but it is a very good model, none the less! If DejaVu & V2 wouldn't have said that, I wouldn't have even picked out the few things I see that prove it's a model.

Sweet, I wouldn't have noticed! But taking another look at the photo, check out how there is not one single piece of debris (trash, leaf, twig, stick, whatever) on the road or sidewalks, there isn't a single bird anywhere... Not even a ripple of a breeze in the trees/bushes or by ripples along the water. But dang, what a great model!

That is definatelly a model. Look closer. I wouldn't mind having that model though :)

By the way, about the water...it wasn't there when I went and if people claim it was, it probably was. It's not like a natural pond or anything, I believe they drain it. Maybe somtimes they put dye in it or something.

Thats definitely a model. Look at the supports and the stuff around it and the colors and trains.

I disagree. I don't think it is a model. I think all the photos look strange due to the altitude they were taken from. Do all of the photos of IOA on GLB's coaster zone ( http://members.tripod.com/~GLBsCoasterZone/ioa-t.html ) look like a model? Or just that one? I doubt anyone would set up a site devoted to aerial pictures and then fake them.

Although it looks like a model, I think it is a real photo. Underneath the photo it gives the date (7-9-99), which would indicate the date the photo was taken. And if you look at all the other photos on the site, they are of high quality just like this one.

Yes, it looks a lot like a model, but I believe it is the real thing.

And I believe it's a model ;)

I've seen other pictures of models and it looks just like the other's I've seen. Also, if you take a look around at the other model pictures, you will notice that they too are models.

When I went in 2000, I do remember there being a lake. I'm not really sure what color it was at the time, but it was a darkish blue.

"Grilled Steak Taco from Taco Bell!!!"
Face it. No one knows for sure if it's a model or not. We'd all want it if it was, but it's neither here nor there. This thread is about the water, and now I'm more confused than ever about water being there! :o)

This is not a model!!!!!

1. Look at the shadows of the supports. That would have to be one powerful light on top of this model to create only one shadow of the supports the way it is. Otherwise you would several shadows from different lights.

2. No model is done in this detail that you see here, Look at the piles of wood look at the Shrubbery It is in perfect detail. The dirt by the wharehouse is different colored the outhouses have lettering on them.

3. This is the only working model i have seen where the people move. Look at the other two pictures of DD and others on this site the water and everything else looks the same but the people are not in the same place not to mention the rollercoaster works.

4. Why would all of the other pictures be real and one be a model?

This a picture taken on a very calm hot day in the middle of the day like the rest of them. IOA did have clear blue water underneath dueling dragons when it was opened. And the park was very, very clean and brand new. Besides they had a model of IOA and it was not in this detail. It use to be at the entryway when walking to the parks from the parking garage before the park was opened. *** This post was edited by T-Wolf on 8/6/2001. ***
Wow...I love the "model" of The Hulk. It even has the splash put in and look at all those people walking down the path. Oh...that is awesome...there is even ripples in the water.
