Drachen Fire rumors...

This post has been out there before but this is actually something I can confirm on the ride and would be willing to make it known to anyone who doubts it.  I simply hope this will put an end to all rumors.

Exactly as I was told, Drachen Fire is not going to be opening at Busch Gardens.  No further details were given, other than what it said, Drachen Fire will not be opening at Busch Gardens.

I hope that either Drachen Fire will open next season or be removed for a CCI or a GCI wooden coaster that would replace Drachen Fire.

Well if thats the case then how long are they going to let it sit there and rot? What is keeping them from having it torn down?

Too bad....if it is true, that is. :)  There is a brand new batch of folks who would give their eyeteeth to ride that sky blue monster.  It was a great ride when it opened.  Too many complaints, and 8 years make a big difference.

all about PKI
the Beasts` Den

This is pretty much old news.

DragonCyrs:  You say you "were told" and then say "what it said"...huh? By whom or what?

The fact that DF won't open this year is not news.

What would be news is if there were an actual official announcement that DF won't open, ever, at BGW.

PKI_MAN: Yes, the eagles (or another hawk-like species) built a nest on the tracks.  I have seen it myself.

-----------------

Actually, there is no eagle's nest on the ride, that was also mentioned in another email as well.  The nest is not an eagle's nest, it is only a bird nest but it is not an eagle nest.

MABrider, I was told everything through Deborah DeMarco whom I found the majority of these things out since I am working with Busch Gardens on a couple things that will be mentioned at a later date.  If you give me your email, I will forward you the exact email.

DragonCyrs:
If ever an announcment is made that DF will absolutely for certain without a doubt for sure never open again, I want to know, as do countless others.  Conversely,  if an announcement is made that it will open on a specific date, that will thrill us all.  Either announcement will make news (here).
If this Deborah DeMarco is credible, can she say for sure it will never re-open?   (rhetorical question).  That would be sad.   If she cannot, better she says nothing at all.  No need to e-mail me, thanks anyway.
I can wait until the absolute final word comes out, while ignoring other rumors.
Regarding those birds, if they are not an endangered/protected species, and are still there, I wonder why.

It costs money to tear it down. Since it's in an isolated area and pretty much out of sight, unless you take the train ride, there is no strong motivation to remove it.  Even from the train it isn't really an eyesore.

I don't know about the rest of you, but it practically makes me sick to my stomach that a ride would just sit SBNO.  Kinda the same way when a famous actor dies, you wish you watched a few more of their movies.  Maybe it's just me, but if it's not gonna open, it's kinda a slap in the face to me that it's still there.  Anyone else feel the same way?

I rode "X" and never went upside down.

If it really were an eagle’s nest, I would think the park would hype it up as part of their conservation efforts… "The eagles are more important to us than our multi-million dollar roller coaster…"
So are we saying that DF will never open at BGW, or that it will never open with its current layout.  I thought I'd heard that DF was taken off the market (and at $4.5M it never would have sold IMO).  I really would rather NOT see a repeat of WindJammer (another coaster I got to see, but NEVER rode). :-(

It IS an eagle's nest.  There have been many topics on this.  The nest is not being disturbed because eagles ARE endangered.  The common opinion on this states that the eagles are being left alone until they relocate their nest.  Eagles are known to take over a year to leave a specific nest.  Until then, there are NO plans for the ride to open or move.  This is a recognized fact.  There are many photos of the nest if you search for them.  I do not have a photo, but I have seen many posted on the web.  In regards to this post, remember one thing....until an announcement has been made, it is more than a bit foolish to openly state that you know EXACTLY what is going to happen.  Who is Deborah DeMarco anyway?  Does she run BGW?  Is she in PR?  Does she work for Arrow?  B&M?  What is your correlation to all of this?  Do you work in R&D at some design firm?  How are you in the know?  Why are you in the know?  Your posts seem to sound like you are "spreading rumors."   Sorry, but it sounds that way...

In a hidden spot it is, but the Fire isn't invisible, I can see that ride all over that park. Especially from the buckets and AC. Real official word would be real official like, wouldn't you think?

Anything as far as birds go, I thought it sounded crazy that a bird would build a nest on a coaster track. My wife knows all about that stuff, and she says they would build in a place like that. They usually build on tops of rocks(?) and stuff, but never in any cover like I thought they would. Besides, I've seen it, and I've got pictures, and there is stuff in more than one spot. Unless a person decided to climb up there with some sticks, it would have to be a bird of some kind, or debris that has blown up there AND stayed a really long time, which seems unlikely.

In theory, its not costing BGW anything to have DF sit there. I don't know outside of the enthusiast community would come to the park just to ride DF now. Of course they could still be paying off the ride.

These are just rumors and that is something coasterbuzz is trying to get away from. Read the FAQ's before posting please.
I sure hope it opens. I decided not to go to BGW because it wasnt open. Thats the one coaster there that i really want to ride.

Nitro: The Most Explosive Coaster on the Planet explodes at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2001.

As I rode the railroad I traveled within 30 feet of the ride. It was a sad thing to see and there were bird nests in the track. I saw 2 but there may of been more.
