Drachen Fire is closed for .......?

Why is this coaster closed?
what happened to it?
Could they be moving it to Busch Gardens Tampa?Just a thought.

Last summer, when I asked an employee at BGW, they said it was closed due to numerous complaints of head injuries. (I have read this on other coaster sites as well.)It does look fierce, but how many complaints did it take to close it down. It's still shown on some of those TV Coasters specials, but I know it's been dormant for two years, at least. Other rumors that abound are that it closed due to lack of riders. I hardly believe that one to be credible. I asked the staff at BGTampa(with whom I work from time to time) and they didn't know the clear answer. Their speculations were varied. Since its' closure it's been supposedly up for sale, but no one seems to be buying. They've been running tests this Spring, with oficials and park employees testing it. Some say it's in order to sell it... Others say it's in order to prepare to FIX the problems while still others speculated it would open this season as is (it didn't of course). As with ANY coaster closing, the spin doctors try to minimize the speculation while the rumor mills try to stir things up. Somewhere amidst all these clues are the real answers, I'm sure... As for now, it just sits there...

"You have to scale a lot of lift hills to coast easily..."
i only raise the questions casue it looks like an awesome ride
Anyone have 4 million. Thats what I heard the price is. Maybe if a few of us get on and win Who Wants To Be a Millionare we can finally get Drachen Fire running again. If I win I'll donate my million.

Hey coasterpunk, since Busch Gardens doesnt want it can we go ahead and put it in your back yard? Hope you have alot of land. Of course we have to win that 4 million first but planning ahead is a good thing. (heh!heh!)

I am surprised that rider complaints got it shut down, look at OLFOF on the "never ride agian" topic. There must be another reason.

Gotta ride 'em all!

I've asked and asked... but no straight answer.

Drachen Fire was shut down because of low riddership caused by a bad location of the ride entrence, hidden by the Festhaus, and by a bad reputaion gained from the few people who rode it and got headches because they do not know how to ride Arrow looping coasters(heads up and out). I maneged to ride it a couple of times before they shut it down and the first half before the mid-course brakes is insane, especially the rollover into the dive loop 1/3 of the way down the first hill, and the rest is pretty good to, just needs a little smothing out.

Its not until you lose something that you really miss it. I thought it was just "ok" but know I realize how good it was. Lets hope they open it!

Racers Start your Engines!
at Hersheypark
y dont thye just requeue it. put the entrance wher it is or just move it but make it proouced. theme itup make music playing right by it. jsut takes soem advertising and you can get people to ride it look at disaster transport. cool theming gets people to ride a crappy ride
Ron, that's the most hillarious thing I've heard all week. in DT's case, I think people ride a decent bobsled coaster despite ths crappy theming. good lord, those posters in the front of the line are peeling, the dust-covered robots haven't worked in ages.. ..I think they should remove the building it's in and just let it be Avalanche Run again. the ride itself is great.
