Double dips

Two of Michigan's Adventure's wooden rollercoasters have these. Shivering Timbers has a double up and a trick track. Wolverine Wildcat has a double up followed by a double down.
The first drop on The Boss is a double down, surrounded by wood structure so you don't see it coming. It's fierce.

The best is still the Jack Rabbit though.

In the SBNO category--- Cyclone @ Williams Grove has/had a double down. I think it was even intentionally built that way, and not the result of settling or warping. :)

To address the original posters question, it appears that new coasters are still being built with double ups or downs.

Voyage not only has a triple down, but also a triple up (into the final brake run!)

Someone said that the Legend has a double-up with air, but in my 200+ rides on it, I have never noticed a double up. Are you referring to the turn around at the very end? I don't consider that a double up.

Now, there is a small air-time hill followed by a larger hill after the first turn around, but that's not a double up...

Dan - Yes...it is a double up. When they added Zoombabwe to Splashin' Safari they cleverly used it as a head-chopper as you crest the first rise.

Grand National at Blackpool Pleasure Beach has a double down. (Maybe the only racing double down?)

There's a second smaller double down further along the track but it's not anywhere near as effective as the first.

Good call, Sara. I realy wasn't expecting too much from Tornado (other than quirkiness) - Stricker's surprised me in several "pleasant" ways, and the back-seat intensity on that adult woodie was right up there, esp. on the DD. (The kiddie woodie was just INSANELY smooth).

....and Jim, Nashie is most definitely on my "list"... ;)

OK...how about Vince Vaughn? (If you get it, you're really really cool!) ;)

A TRIPLE dip?? *Drools* Must... start... saving... pennies.... Seriously, though, I'm glad to hear that such a fun element is still going strong. I don't know, inversions and lateral G's don't do much for me, but the negative G's are a blast.

I wish Carowinds would get a new coaster next year, with a great double (or triple) dip! :D

^Going back to your original post, personally I think Jack Rabbit's double down is in a class by itself. While the coaster as a whole is ok, this one single element is the only reason JR is a top-10 coaster for me. While I haven't ridden many of the coasters mentioned here, I have doubts that most (if not all) of the double downs (and ups) provide as much air as JR's. I've never come as close to falling out of a coaster as I did in JR's back seat.
Even better is the fact that JR is a FAMILY coaster. How in the world that is only a 36" height requirement is beyond me but my family of four enjoyed it many times on our trip last year. The first REAL full size coaster all four of us rode together, other than Trailblazer at HP and Comet at Waldameer.

You have disturbed the forbidden temple, now-you-will-pay!!!

The spinning mad mouse (Ragin Cajun' and Opa! for example) coasters have a double up.

^And they pretty much supply the most air you get on the ride!
