Dominion discontinues hip-hop festival

Paramount's Kings Dominion has canceled the annual College Hip-Hop Fest that was produced with Viacom corporate cousin BET. Both parties cite declining attendance. The show was associated with two fatal shootings. It also raised more than $250,000 for black colleges over its seven-year run.

BTW: If I recall correctly, the park was actually closed to the public on those days. I remember a few years ago the only way to buy tickets was through a radio station and perhaps ticketmaster. It was one of those "corporate picnic" type days. So any families that would have wanted to go would have at least known about the hip-hop session.

But even without the so-called "families" the park was always packed that day...
